Nidoking and the AI’s

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

AI’s are good for practicing and noobs. They can also teach you new trick and tips about item and skill builds if you can follow the game closely. In some of the latest versions of AI maps, the AI’s are getting smarter if not better. They do cheap shots and even uses skills better if not wisely.

If you have been playing with AI’s for a long time now, you’d probably know how the game would start and end. You’d probably have mastered every move (where and when they will charge and retreat), strategy (if they have), and items they make against your chosen hero. You probably know that AI’s are only strong in pushing towers but not on killing heroes. Too much playing with AI’s will do you no good even if you can beat 5 AI’s in a game alone. You’ll only learn to beat a buch of heroes anticipating nothing and get killed or run away without doing anything.

Play with AI’s if you think you can’t beat a real player.
Learn from them but don’t ever play with them for the rest of your DOTA gaming life.
I’d rather get beaten by a noob player than beat 5 AI’s in a game.

I recently came up with a site called SigShare.com, where you can share and show off your sigs and avatars with other members! Thanks to mod Orochi for giving me the idea and thinking of the cool name. Kudos also to member Schneider for sharing his excellent stuff!

If you have some of your original works to share, please share ‘em at SigShare!

Dota Allstars 6.37 Released

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

To be honest I was surprised that version 6.37 was released so soon. Everyone was scrambling to get to know the new heroes (Alchemist and Warlock) and basically concluded that Alchemist was too IMBA (which I agree hands down).

Here’s the changelog for 6.37:

Changes
=======
* Fixed a big exploit with waveform
* Medusa ’s Purge now deals 600 damage to summoned units, instead of instantly killing them
* Rebalanced Alchemist
* Reduced the Kobold Endurance Aura from 17% ms to 15% ms
* Hand of Midas IAS from 35% to 30%
* Cyclone on creeps from 20 to 10 seconds
* Reduced Primal Roar cooldown and Call of the Wild manacost
* Treads from +60 to +65 ms and from +30% ias to +35%
* Land Mines can now be properly seen on minimap
* WTF mode now requires voting
* Added a better cancel icon for Pulse Nova
* Increased Enchantress ’s Intelligence per level
* Fixed a bug with -ar and -random that allowed you to get two heroes

I’m quite glad that they improved on the Power Treads by increasing the added movespeed (ms) to +65 and attack speed to +35%. I usually tend to not buy Power Treads unless it is extremely necessary. Now I think it’s a good buy. On the other hand, Midas’ IAS was reduced to 30%, which I don’t give a d*mn about.

Pick up Dota Allstars 6.37 from the Downloads section.

Some interesting stuff on how Luna’s Eclipse works

Sunday, September 10th, 2006

Luna’s ultimate…

1. The damage of Eclipse is dependent on the level of Lucent beam

2. If you have Eclipse yet did not put one single level on Lucent beam, the Eclipse will not produce any damage at all, just a pretty lightshow.

3. Many enemies would mean the beams will be distributed almost evenly.

4. If a single Hero is in your Eclipse’s AOE range he will not receive all of the beams only the maximum, depending on the level of eclipse (Ex. level 3 has a maximum of 4 eclipse)

5. Aghanims will increase the number of Lucent beams and the maximum beams that would hit the target. (Ex. level 3 would have 12 beams and a maximum of 5 beams hitting a single target.)

Tip

If you have a level 2 Eclipse it is better to cast it against 2 heroes. Cast it on 3 heroes when you reach level 3 Eclipse so as not to waste the extra beams.
