Dota 6.60 - Lightning Revenant

The frog has totally revamped him it’s not even remotely similar to the old Razor anymore. I’d call it a new hero. To say that the frog only added 2 new heroes is quite misleading; if anything Razor is the 3rd new hero.
But being given a new lease of life, dare we say that Razor has the punch or not? It’s up to us to find out.
Old Razor aka Lightning Revenant was one of the most favoured heroes in pub games, being the de facto ‘noob’-friendly hero. If anyone new to Dota were to start learning the intricacies of the game, usually the hero he would be pointed to is Razor (or Dwarven Sniper). However, his less-than-impressive skills did not manage to last him beyond 6.48b leagues.
6.59 razor
To prop up Razor’s popularity with leaguers once again, the frog changed him in the 6.60 map. To compensate for Razor’s more mana-intensive skills, he buffed the intelligence gain to 2.2. Note that the storyline does not quite fit the new Razor (lol) - you’ll see why in a jiffy.
6.60 razor
The first spell Plasma Field in essence works similarly to Shiva’s Guard’s Arctic Blast - a circle of electric blobs emit out of Razor and return back to him again. The -tips command seem to suggest that this skill be maxed first. I would agree too, because AoE damage is always best leveled ASAP.
The second absorbs damage from a single enemy hero, but for the absorption to continue Razor must maintain a minimum proximity of sorts . Once again, I agree with the tooltips in -tips that this skill is best accompanied with Unstable Current to achieve the theoretical best effect.
Unstable Current retains half of the corresponding 6.59 skill - the movespeed. The other part which is new makes Razor a less favorable target for target spells, or so it’s supposed to be.
The ultimate is what I’d like very much. Basically a storm cloud is conjured above Razor which attacks the least healthy target (creep or hero) in the vicinity. The cloud cannot be stopped unless Razor himself dies, so the first time I came across the skill I was quite wowed by it. 
Like Static Link this spell works best with Unstable Current too, and is most devastating when a lot of AoE damage is pumped into the area. The storm cloud then seeks the hero (hopefully) with least HP and smashes balls zaps it repeatedly to oblivion. This is when Plasma Field comes into play, as it should be able to remove some enemy creeps from the battle and make good targets even easier to kill. The intended combo that is to be used on 6.60 Razor would be:
Plasma Field (from a range) -> Eye of the Storm (within melee distance) -> Static Link (maintaining the required distance)
Having being critical of the frog for some time, I’d like to say a moderately big thank you for making a hero even better than before. Personally I feel that this remake of Razor will cause even more beginners to like him, especially those who have started to understand his skill synergy a bit.
As for leagues, it remains to be seen - Razor’s old weaknesses - lack of disable and not that much AoE - is still inherent, and Razor may or may not be so favoured depending on the current league trend. As a personal note, despite my constantly relating stuff to leaguers I do not believe that the trends they set may be correct all the time.
According to the tips provided by -tips, the best item approach for Razor is to mass both HP and damage, which I once again agree. As for skill, the approach would be max Plasma Field first, then Unstable Current, then Static Link, while leveling Eye of the Storm whenever possible. That storm cloud is a killer I tell you.
Best allies would be those who enhance Razor’s skill capabilities the most. I would say Dark Seer, Ogre Magi and Omniknight would be the most helpful, followed generally by most stun and slow heroes.

dammit i like him very much
however i beleive skadi is the best choice(just like TB:we got power to kill but cant keep people near to us)
from a stupid dps hero he has turned into a powerful early to mid gamer(ult is imba)
and later can carry due to his 2nd skill
i never liked the old one and i love the new one

I personally like 6.60 for the -tips command. It’s really good for newbies like me
Before you slam me for saying that, I like everyone else am still newly accustomed to the new map.

Oh My Gawd!!! What have they done to Mr. Waffles?!?!? This used to be one of my top three, now he got no frenzy… He used to be a late game monster. A game decider, now he’s just another zeus-e-pooh. Might as well be an intel. character. *sigh*

lothar’s edge is a great item now more than every for revenant
imo absolute must
1) activate eye of the storm
2) use lothar
3) chase low hp running away hero
4*) add radiance to it for even more destructive force while being invisible
5) finish with +125 bonus damage from lothars backstab

I think ES would be good with him, since a double ulti from ES should clear out any creeps

Like hi7man says, his ult will continue to go while you lothars, but ALSO the damage draining skill will work too! So basically you ult, run in, cast damage drain go invis, and have no problem keeping up with them, assuming no good escape, and come out of invis 9 seconds later with them having pretty much no damage and you having up to +200
Since that takes care of all the +damage you really need, I have been getting MoM to replace the missing frenzy. Pop it when you come out of invis and watch their hp disappear.

And yeah, I must say razor is too imba for this remake,
In my personal experience, I have made razor a tank, but still, he owns a lot.
I have HoD, Vanguard, BoT. Tank items, but still, he is a beast.

Razor owns with this remake…he makes me have a hard time facing him…And razor will get used now in competitive gaming…looking forward to KuroKy playing Razor ^_^

Just a quick slip, a very small nerfage is in the works, as he is now he closely resembles the old storm spirit in terms of his hybrid caster dps abilities.
anyway my current build (this is based on several more months of proper play with him than most of you) is…
- Mekanism (you laugh now but it seriously fits quite well)
- Boots of Travel
- Talisman of Evasion (screw butterfly, pwn with small items)
- Lothars
- Manta
- Skadi
anyway try it out people, I know that there were some people calling him weak (and many more calling him imba) but this

Dude, i used the 6.59 razor and i think its better than the 6.60 ver. his range is better and he is a better farmer than in 6.60. though the 6.60 version of razor is a killer, i still prefer the earlier version of razor. as of his item build, i suggest yuo build a mana and agi build so that razor can strike and regen mana.

Razor has been a threat to any heroes……I hate dealing with Lightning Revenant….he is too way strong…
the remake has changed him a lot…..
Imba or not…all I can say is that Razor is one competitive heroes……
I’ll try using him one day…….

Razor is too imba imo… played some pubs against noobrazors today, and they just ended up owning everything.. a lvl 5 garena guy said something like: “omg never been godlike before, didnt know it was so easy etc”

Well, speaking of imbalanced, I think there are more things IMBA other than the new Razor, like the Aghanims, Barathrum Cooldown from 75secs -> 20secs OMGWTF?? I already miss the balanced DotA

well.. Im not pretty sure about him.. because hes no match for chief tauren… but maybe his too new for me to underestimate him… ^_^ because a lvl 15 garena guy was lost to me when i used chief tauren against his new razor…^_^

rzor is a imba hero.icefrog created an unbalanced hero in the dota and razor can evoke pandemonium in any dota game.his all 4 skill is so useful and none of the hero have the opportunity to come near him(if got other teammate beside him).if razor+tauren+batrider i can say that the game is over….razor is too imba i hope icefrog can reduce razor’s ”profesional” if not dota will be a sick game…a noob player who use razor can bestowed beyond godlike easily like a piece of pancake…..the remake is too huge change it from a soft hero to a hard attacker….UNBALANCED!!!!!

i agree wif most ppl that the new razor is imba. but a commnet first @ hitman_huskie, where on earth did find out taht the AS works on LR?? i read the new item lists, unless theres soem sort of bug that the frog hasnt work out then, AS shouldnt work on LR, if it does, wat does his ult improve on? dmg or rate of dmg?
secondly commenting on the hero itself, this guy is insanely….the best junker ever….palyed it earlier, got three hero kills, it should go ult n then plasma field ti works wonders…
stuck wif old item build…also worked wonders….though i threw in a shivas guard fot eh slow to make ult last longer…., i wish frog updated his attk range…its still too short

This hero makes me top of all because of his superb farming abilities. Eye of the storm is one of the best farming tool synergize with plasma field.
I prefer skadi with him, Butterfly, Mjolinir, HoT(instead of Satanic), Phase Boots and Lothar’s edge for escape mechanism. He’s really powerful and yet formidabble to those whom I already played with.
I thank IceFrog for the remake of Razor. Its really awesome.

Skadi would be the best orb for him. Anyone who says new Razor sucks are close-minded noobs, I mean the old Razor, just look at the skills, so OMG generic and uninnovative.

Thank Icefrog for the remake. I’m looking for a total remake for Sniper (I know one of his skills was changed but still not enough.) or maybe Faceless Void.
Not really imbalance IMO Khadagar’s Pipe is a nice addition against these kind of heroes.
