DS Status
Posted by drew on March 24th, 2009 | Visited 3191 times, 3 so far todaySince the disaster that was January, I’m happy to report that DS is steadily gaining more popularity. We’re fast hitting 5.5 million pageviews and a million visits per month, numbers I’ve never seen before. Let’s toast to that!
In addition, the DS team is quietly working on a contest that will surely shore up some excitement in the community. Watch out for that as well.
Things I’m working on now:
- Better comment moderation in all areas of DS.
- Scout for possible candidates for Blue and Gold status.
- A *secret* project involving stuff that can be worn.
Possible, but not certain:
- Give the strategy builder a major overhaul.

if [s]we[/s] you could modify the site and have some sort of… table at the site of the ds.com page that lists all of GotMs since Quale’s nevermore guide. similar to archives on the right side of this page… everyone agreed on the idea. but we’re not forcing anyone… it’s just idea

I think ds is gonna get bigger. I certainly cant wait for dotactics. But the most i want is the strategy builder overhauled, definitely.

glad to know its getting even better than it already is ^^
and yeah, i know a lot of people (especially guide makers) want the strategy overhaul and the GotM panel would be nice

Improve search tool and make it more visible, so it pops-out.

yeah search tool needs to be reworked a bit. It is very prone to errors.
Also maybe some reorganization of the forums…such as consolidating less active ones and perhaps dividing the most active ones, for more balance maybe?
I like the content on the frontpage, but again, it could be a bit more visually appealing xD.
Strat builder overhaul, s’il vous plait.

*the step in hero strategy maker where you will site the items in a very numerical order, items for heroes are purely situational so pls do something about it.
*add some background pls? hehe. especially on main page.

For those looking for chat, please visit http://www.dotastrategy.net. The background is fine too, clean-looking and does not require a lot of load time unlike DA.
I’d say improvement of the search tool is called for. Really, I think Google search works better at looking for topics.

How about forcing new members to spend about 15 mins looking at the threads on the rules, search etc? Only after so and so time shall they be allowed to browse the rest of the site.. Sounds harsh but I feel this will help a lot!
Oh and remember that hero combo strategy builder I mentioned a month ago? It got good response..

I suggest having a chat. and improving the search tool like what king said.
I wouldn’t mind helping out in the “moderating” If you feel like promoting me(hint hint) hehe.

yah… with the overhauling of the strats, the guide makers will experience a world of fantasy if they are having a sudden crave for hero guides (i think)^^

When looking up a hero through the “Heroes” link at the top of the page, it would be useful to see each strategies star rating where they are listed underneath the skill explanations. Thanks DS!

I only have one teeny weeny request –
Please enable HTML in the DS strategy builder, WYSIWYG is good but power users want more than point click and drag. I’m pretty sure that malicious scripts and tags can be monitored by compitent staff such as that of DS.com, or even members like me (with adequate knowledge of web programming) could help in that area.
