In our hit feature on Mineski Team Leader Roro Robins, he spoke extensively about his friendship and working relationship with his teammate, Khen Sy. Kendrick Boris Que Sy, who plays under the nick mski.khen is the other half of the original Mineski Team. (The other is of course, Roro). Khen, 22 years old (birthday: November 11, 1984), is currently a student of the College of Saint Benilde, taking up Export Management. He has only three terms to finish before he graduates. Meanwhile, he busies himself with his favorite games, DotA All-Stars and basketball. His favorite heroes are Bone Clinkz, Rikimaru, and Gondar.

Khen shares that his girlfriend Angelique Aizah “Nissan” Bendero serves as his inspiration as she never stops supporting him.

Khen also made famous the following lines: “mski.Damu-damuhan, mski.kati-kati, mski.hangloose”; “Oh baby baby it’s a wild card”; “Suicidal… Suicidal… Suicidal”; “Pare paano niyo ako nakita nun?”; “Did you know?”; “yacha”; “nyahay” ; “tefez”; calvento files” and many more.

In this interview we get to know more of Mineski’s number one support player.

1. When and why did you start playing DotA? Who influenced you to play DotA?

I played DotA when the brother of RORO told us that there is a new addicting computer game. So Roro, Dave and I tried to play the game around UST and the shop was EVO. I played DotA because I had sudden interest of it and it is fun. I think friends influenced me to play dota because most of us really loved to play the game. We also played most of the time at TOMAS MORATO 168. (Doon kami nagsimula at laging naglalaro). Pagkatapos naglaro kmi sa EVO at doon kmi talaga natuto maglaro ng dota. Our master or teacher of Dota named Nick. A friend of Roro. =)

2. Why did you continue playing DotA?

I continued playing DotA coz most of my friends are playing dota and luckily we made a team. First tourney we played was at 129. hehehe…. =) we enjoyed many people are competing in the tournament. I also wanted to have the feeling of excitement and thrills whenever I play dota. “Kung ang buhay ay may Gulong ng Palad, Ang dota rin may Gulong”. I enjoyed crucial and close games (parang one mistake lng talo na kyo).

3. How did you develop your skills in playing DotA?

I think playing pub games will help a lot! Hahaha….. Like 16 hours of playing dota lol! Hahaha… jk. I think I played a lot of tournament games and pustahan games. And by sharing of strategies of my team mates.

4. Where and how did learn new strategies?

Shared by team mates, watching replays, watching other people play, and observing other people play in tourneys and pustahan.

5. What would you say was your edge over other players?

I think I don’t have any edge over other players because I’m just a support player. I’m the one in charge of the support heroes like venge, veno, lich, warlock, nerubian assassin. Warders and gankers are my heroes and jobs. My main advantage is that I have my team mates that are damn good and imba to play with! =) My secondary advantage is that I had played a lot of tournaments and pustahan games already as compared to others.

6. What lesson(s) have you learned or skill(s) did you develop from playing DotA?

Lessons?! Hmmmm… don’t let dota destroy your studies like me. =( Skills?! I don’t know… because I don’t have skills… I just know how to support them… and they do all the works. =) I’m noob that’s why =p but Try having a match with us first! =) You’ll see… hahaha….

7. What other games do you play and how would you compare those to DotA?

I also play counter strike, warcraft ladder, Diablo, WOW, and other online games. I think DotA is much interesting and fun because Team Work is really enhanced here.

8. Why do you think DotA is so popular nowadays?

I think dota is popular because it has a lot of versions and many heroes to choose and play with and have different spells which makes it interesting not boring. =)

9. Has DotA taken over your life? Has it hindered or enhanced your development as a person?

Definitely yes! Im age 22 now and still haven’t graduated because of DotA. Sometimes I regret knowing and playing this game. Hehehe… but it is fun… can’t help myself of playing it.

10. What have you learned from your experiences while competing?

Never underestimate any opponent. Do everything you need to do in order to win and compete.

11. What is the worst mistake a newbie player or team can commit?

Worst mistake?! Buying too much wards ain’t good hahahaha… and don’t be a feeder like me. =)

12. What advice can you give to other players and teams?

Be cautious and alert because I might be there at your front, back, left, and right stabbing you!

13. What is the best and worst thing about DotA?

Best thing is the excitement and thrills. Worst thing is having no money to ward your team mates.

14. Why did you choose to play with Mineski rather than other teams?

I choose to play with the Mineski since I’m one of the original member of it and I’m one of the founder of the clan lolz =) Masarap maglaro ksama mga Mineski kasi malakas mag Trash Talk! And they are all my friends… and nakakasama ko lahat sa Microsmith. Kahit kami kami lng trashtalkan pa rin. Trash talk na hindi nakaka sama ng loob. hehehe

15. How many major tournaments have you joined?

I can’t count the tournaments I have been through but almost all tourneys we are and were present when we started playing competitively.

16. Of these tournaments, which one is most memorable? Why?

The most memorable was E.G.G. tournament because there was a song being played in the finals. Tenenen… tenetenten….

17. Which team/s are you most threatened by?

I consider NINJA, PAPI and FLOW as rivals and competitors. But now Flow has been disbanded already =(.

18. Have you committed a mistake while playing that you regret?

Yes I had many mistakes and I regret that I did it. But Playing DotA has no perfection because you really don’t know what the other team is doing unless you have map hack lolz! =)

19. Who are the DotA gamers that you admire/idolize? Why?

I admire how Ninja Bong, Tony, and Rejz play DotA. Among the 3, I admire Bong the most because he is so flexible and knows how to use any hero plus he is the Brain of ninja too.

20. Do you think you will be playing DotA for a long time?

I think I will because We haven’t got the WCG yet.

21. Do you think there is a chance for pro gaming to prosper in the Philippines ? Why or why not?

I’m hoping gaming will prosper here in our country but as a gamer I can see lack of support from the government and lack of sponsors.

22. How can pro gaming prosper in the Philippines ?
