Due to the dismal result of the first run of the Philippine DotA Improvement Project (PDIP), the organizers have decided to re-format the project. The new format aims to encourage participating teams to be more active in the project, and to enhance the competitiveness of the tournament.

PDIP 2008 will commence this January with it’s first season with two Divisions.

Division 1 is the Invitational Division with the Top 5 teams in the country already confirmed to participate: Mineski, Project D, Topia X, ChiLL, and CORPO. As of this writing, Arby Ng’s Team Outdated still has to confirm their participation.

The last two slots of Division 1 will be contended by four invited teams: Baguio, CDO All-Stars, Pag-Ibig, and TNS. They will play for the right to fight beginning December 20, 2007.

Division 1, with only 8 teams, will be having either single round robin eliminations or a double eliminations format pending the approval of the participating teams. Division 1 participants are required to pay a registration fee of PhP 2,000. Division 1 Champions will win PhP 12,000, while the runner-up will win, PhP 4,000.

Meanwhile, Division 2 is the Open Division for all the other Philippine teams who wish to join the project. There are 16 slots open. Division 2 will follow a single elimination format. Participating teams are required to pay a registration fee of PhP 500. Division 2 Champions will receive PhP 6,000, while the runner-up will get PhP 2,000 (if 16 teams join the tournament). The Division 2 Champion and Runner-up will also be given an invitation to dislodge the bottom 2 teams of Division 1, for a chance to participate in the Division 1 of PDIP Season 2.

To register for Division 2, please read this page.

All games for Season 1, will be played in the -XL mode, using patch 1.21 version 6.49b, via GGC following the GGC Philippine Regional Wars Rules. Rules specifically for PDIP will be online soon.

If Season 1 is successful, the organizers will launch Season 2 on March 2008, and every other month thereafter.
