Last Saturday, September 15, 2007, yet unknown and rising stars in the Davao DotA scene came out to play against each other to be declared as the Sequel Juan Luna UNDERDOGS Champions. A total of 20 teams expressed their intention to join, but only 16 teams where lucky enough to have been given the chance to show off their skills. Several teams where disqualified as they had members who were DCE 07 Cafe Champion Team Members.

The sixteen teams and their home cafes/affiliations are as follows:
Team AXIS - NetExpress Duterte
Team Arki - Architecture students of AdDU
Team Go - Jimbers’ Gaming Cafe
Team IM3 - Information Management students of AdDU
Team TB - Sequel Juan Luna / Jimbers’ Gaming Cafe
Team ANCF2 - composed of foreign kids
Team Saint - RiorEN Padama’s (of CORPO) wards
Team PusSy - Sequel Juan Luna; PusSy members Marc, Coroy, and Shad with friends
Team Bytes - Hyper Bits and Bytes Jacinto
Team GYM - formerly known as Team DG; played in the Kadayawan Tournament Exhibition Match
Team RH
Team ANCF
Team Sinners -TC Clan 2
Team z3 - Sequel Juan Luna; IM students of AdDU
Team Yahoo
Team X2 - Jimbers’ Gaming Cafe / NetExpress Duterte

The first order of the day was to determine by random lottery the elimination matches. The teams were matched as follows:
A1: Axis vs Arki - Winner: Axis
A2: Go vs IM3 - Winner: Go
A3: TB vs ANCF2 - Winner: TB
A4: Saint vs PusSy - Winner: Saint
B1: Bytes vs Gym - Winner: Gym
B2: RH vs ANCF - Winner: ANCF
B3: Sinners vs z3 - Winner: Sinners
B4: Yahoo vs X2 - Winner: X2

In the Quarterfinals, Saint battled out and won a well-fought game against Axis. Go triumphed over over TB. Gym overwhelmed RH. Meanwhile, the game between X2 and Sinners dragged on and reached the 80-minute mark. This forced the Head Marshall, RJ Jose to utilize the points system, which awarded a win to X2.

During the Semi-finals, Go was coached by Lalab of 50ph, and marshalls Totzkie de Castro (of 50ph) and Aiwem dela Cerna (of PusSy). On the other side, RiorEN and Jay Arabia of CORPO coached Saint. The game suffered technical glitches that turned it into a 4 vs 4 battle. Eventually, Go emerged victorious.

Gym initially controlled their game against X2. But they eventually lost after X2 has farmed well. The turning point of the game was Gym’s push that allowed X2 to kill off all Gym heroes. After the wipe out, X2 persisted to push, and won the game.

In the finals match, Go faced off with their friends X2 in a tight match that tested the mettle of both teams. After a long game that capped off the long day of matches… Go was declared as the UNDERDOGS Champions.

Many congratulations to Team Go led by Bryan aka Heero, and composed of rising stars Mohammed Alrazid “Haxxer” Lintongan, Ivan “Kuut” Young, Miguel “Migz” Gascon, and Kim “Kim” Gutib!!!

The event would have been successful without the tireless efforts of the Head Organizer Jericho “Liz7″ Oñate. The rules and guidelines were made with the help of RiorEN Padama, and head marshall Maria “RJ” Jose (this writer). Providing support were marshalls Gerald “Aiwem” dela Cerna, Brylle “Bryl” Saso, Chian Coronel, Totzkie de Castro, Zandro “no respect” Zabaldan, Bruce “Warrior ka” Tan, and Jan Bon Jovi “John” Tumale.
