The Davao eliminations of the World GameMaster Tournament (WGT) 2008 will be held at the BoyzTrek Gaming Shop this weekend. Davao and Mindanao teams will fight it out to be declared the best in DotA, Counterstrike, and Need for Speed.

In the DotA Tournament, ACG representatives NoMets of Davao City and BTE of Cagayan de Oro are expected to lord over the other teams. Nomets composed of Jay Arabia, Burnz Flores, Paul Limlao, Subang Padilla, and Cocoy Villaroman is undoubtedly the best provincial DotA team in the country and they are highly touted to be back in Manila for the WGT Finals. Also expected to show up are teams from Iligan City and Tagum. Davao teams FK, High, Sense, Bratz.Pro, and Game Over have also signed up to join the rumble.

For Counterstrike, teams from Iligan City and Cagayan de Oro City are expected to try their luck in bullying the Davao teams once again. But the famed DC Clan headlined by Duke Dalumpines and Shaggy Te are determined to win it all this time. Will Davao finally produce their first homegrown CS Champions?

Some contenders have signed up for the Need for Speed Street Pro Tournament. Who among them will be Davao’s first NfS Champion?

Eliminations, quarterfinals, and semifinals for all games will be held on Saturday, September 20. While the Fight for 3rd Place and the Championship matches will be held on Sunday, September 21. Expect 2 days of exciting games and battles as Mindanao’s gamers come out to win the exciting prizes and the bragging rights as the best in the island.

Players and teams are reminded to be at the event venue at 9 am sharp, with their valid IDs, and 2×2 photos. I will be there as the official head marshall. GLHF!
