I don't play GGC, I decided to use Banlist on realms games to make sure I don't join games with -bleep- noobs (provided dudes were banned for good reasons, not "extrem flaming", because I don't mind flaming :p).

For more serious games, I use listchecker to host a game (and I use lc-hosted games through dotapickup channel on Quakenet@irc) and make sure there is no one who is on my Banlist (federated with offical banlists) and make sure that latencies are good (it goes through firewalls). With dotapickup (dotapickup.euro, dotapickup.vote, dotapickup.sprd), your probability to play decent games is 90%. The remaining 10% are the result of dudes leaving (they get banned in the day for a long period until they might justify on the Web site by providing screens, replays, etc that could explain their leave) or disconnecting (same as leaving). Some games may be rehosted due to lags (you have to tell the other dudes you have spikes etc to have the game rehosted). Plus you have strict rules to respect or you can get banned.

There is a lot more to say about dotapickup, but that's a great way of playing 5v5, and the level is quite good (the more it gets popular, the more noobs are coming, but in the early days OMG, that was more than challenging), sometimes you get OMG games. Great time, and really skilled players down there. Approx 50 min for -ar or -sd games.

Leavers just suck. Thx to banlist, this has been a little bit reduced. But creating a new count is so quick for a guy that wants to annoy ppl. Ruining games is part of Bnet world, at the beginning of the game (between 5 and 3 seconds count) or during the game (feeding, leaving after the FB, laying his items on the floor then leaving, ...). That's part of Bnet, because custom games are not monitored and the host has no means of neither anticipating nor preventing the leavers. Hope that the next Bnet will take that in consideration.

I kick spam names, and annoying names, and any name that ends with numbers.

Generally names that someone has made many accounts with due to being banned.

It's a quick check for me.

When joining a game, I prefer to be on the hosts team. The host is usually good (usually...). And I never trust my team will be any good / ever played before..

nothing you can do
and banlsit dosent even work on majority of players, ive left a few game sive admit
but even when on banlist it dosent work becasue im behind firewall, which stops people form seeing IP adress. so even if they get account name i can just use capitals instead, banlists are not widely used for stopping leavers...

but what you can do? play lan games, if they leave smack them in the head!
usually people will play becasue they want to see how a girl play's, usually they dont exept dominating then eveyrbody leaves from eyla...

leavers trash a game, may it be late game or early game, quitters suck
though i have quit, i know im wrong, but i hate it when people leave the game when im pwning them, they should stay to the end.
