melee vs ranged

only orb walkers tend to be annoying..if you are a melee, you should have some spamming spell and be able to harrase them more than they are able to harasse you..

I prefer melee heroes.

They have higher base damage, meaning easier denies and last hits, and stronger attacks of course.

They also have another advantage against ranged heroes. They get denied LESS EXP. Meaning, if your lane opponent denies a creep, you get more exp than a ranged hero would.

Well...

Denials are mostly done by ranged because they are ranged. Melees can't attack with distance.In addition, they have higher HP than the ranged ones.

I didn't have hard time playing dota at the start coz I used to play Frozen Throne.. So I have map familiarity and some of the heroes. But I wasn't aware of last hit and deny and some item builds as well as familiarity with other hero's skills. My very first hero was Raigor. I always pick str type back there coz my brother taught me that they are stronger and I follow his advice coz he was a pro dota player. As I went along, I tried all heroes and they are all fun to play with..

Well... Frozen Throne is good and you have World Editor and you can create cool and great and wacky maps you want.

Still, it is a powerful tool to change some aspects in the game and DoTA is one of the products of the World Editor...

By the way..
Raigor is probably good in team plays because he has fissure that stuns enemies. HE's a melee hero.

Little from the good ideas that I DIDN'T know that.

juz equal,..melee heroes have high hp and damage,. while ranged has decent damage but low on health,..i have dificulty lasthitting with ranged..they have the animation(load the bow)then they have to aim,then the missile willl travel...and puk,..u mis the last hit...well not lyk melee...fewer animation,..

even if i,m new here i already played dota a year ago,.. my favorite -ap player was sniper,..but when i do know how to play melee heroes my friends feared me a lot,..especially bloodseeker..

playing with against 2 ranged heroes sucks,but strygwyr can persevere b'coz of his lifesteal ability,..

Maybe the problem is the attack speed of the hero? Try to put Hyperstone on it or if he's a AGI nuker, put butterfly on it...

On your starter items, put Pow threads on the hero. Moreover, put some Bracers, Wraith Band or Null Talisman on it, depending on the hero you chose.

I suggest if you want to be killer heroes, you should use agi and RANGED heroes except Dark Terror because his cronos. If you want to be tanker heroes, you should use str and MELEE heroes.
You will found that use melee heroes is much difficult than ranged heroes, you should think smart and use blank spot to attack the enemy. In early game, maybe not to difficult (you can denies and last hit), but in end game you can killed easily with ranged heroes.

This is my conclusion, Melee heroes is more difficult to play.

Melee fights hand-to-hand combat or simply called close range. Agiiity is the speed status of a hero. Meaning if he has a lot of it, he has a fast attack and movement (perhaps not)...

In STR type heroes... they must be bashing types or what I mean is, they must deal high damages to the enemy. It might be good if he has a stunning skill.

In AGI type melee sub-type heroes... they must be speedy and they must also deal with heavy damages. I mean is, put items that gives some an increase to its attack to the hero and must be speedy. The good item will be SnY.

i find melee to be far better man with nessaj i have become the god of last hitting my personal record is last hitting all 3 first waves perectly that 12 creeps at 3 minutes and still managed to have 9 denies his base dmge is just awesome range suck unless u have disable coz if not the melee will just walk up to u then ur even LOL
