You can not target friendly units with this spell?

i'm sure that it is possible to with a single trigger command (-tk or something), all ice-frog would need to do is add it in... and hope that allies didn't go killing each other..
then there would be balance issues and things, global silence becomes global?
but yes, while it is a good idea it could be a bitch to implement.
and it would suck if you healed your enemy by accident.

If this was implemented, there would be an unimaginable amount of Jackasses on bnet/GGC.

If you were using Tiny, can you toss a very low life allied hero to an enemy hero who's chasing him? Wouldn't you like, deny your own ally by killing him that way? Or something...?

It wouldn't be as fun as it sounds.

I say there should be a mode(-..) for this..
So you could use it when you're playing with someone you trust/ for fun!!

@vince: Well actually I prefer tossing my ally into the lake or near roshan whre he gets stuck.
This might be able to be implemented in a certain game mode for professional players like what ghost said. Something like CS with friendly-fire on.

First off. I like the addition by some stating that Aptropos' sleep can be placed on allies. That is precisely what I am talking about. He is putting a damaging spell onto one of his allies but there are potential positive effects if done properly. If abused, this spell is incredibly irritating which goes along with many of the negative comments so far. But as we all know the players that use Sleep on allies are as*hol**. This is central to my thought. If you are playing with a bunch of idiots then the game is going to suck regardless. People who abuse their spells should be banned just as with any other jerk off behavior.
As far as accidentally clicking Finger or Laguna Blade on allies: you need to be more careful with hazardous magic. As I think more about changing the game to a spell on allies game I realize that it should only be allowable in pro matches. I like one of the comments suggesting a mode where you can select this more realistic style of play.
As promised I have comprised the list of heroes and the spells which may or may not be used on allies.

Is it even possible within the game mechanics to have something like chain lightening hit an ally on first hit and then distinguish enemies from allies on the following bounces...same with something like Paralyzing Casks.
Also, I think that putting in some kind of mode would be the best bet as then it would give the option for premade games to have that ability. I don't think it would work in pub games...some teams can barely get along as it is, give them the ability to kill each other and they probably will abuse it (stunning each other so they can get the final shot on kills etc)

You may be correct about the game mechanics, I am not familiar with how these things work.
Basically I just think it would be an improvement for the game overall. Everyone is right about the maturity of the players and if they play seriously or not, but I believe that they have the ability to be poor sports already (i.e. AFK, KSing, non-team player, anything that is un-sportsman like). True this would give them the opportunity to be even worse, but that is the nature of many improvements, if used incorrectly they make they aren’t improvements. Correct?

Thank you. That is a perfect example of someone who would get banned. An example BS using rupture on an Allied unit properly would be this:
You are BS with very low hp. Your lane mate is about to get killed by a tower (no chance to live) and you are about to die from an enemy hero also! Doesn’t look good... You rupture your friendly hero denying the enemy the kill. Your health goes way up from the blood bath and you turn around and pwn the enemy hero or make your escape. 0 to 0 is way better then 0 and 2.

but the whole thing is sooooo situational lol. i understand what you are implementing but for all we know, this may not even be possible! But if it ever was created, like everyone else has already said, it would HAVE to be a game mode or else the number of people playing Dota would drop.
BTW, why would you want to be able to multicast Fireblast on an ally or even Fiend's Grip lol. Disable two heroes on your side FTL! Only viable uses i see are for denying besides the ocassional improve the range of a spell or getting more summons/allies (spiderlings, etc). I mean, why would you want to slow, blind, silence, weaken, or even stun your ally? DK's Dragon Tail or Rhasta's Shackles on an ally is just weird lol.
