wow this site really rocks first i was impressed with the Strategy builder since (im from DP) i was used to typing stuff (plus i've never attempted to make a guide there while the one i'm making here is still under construct cause i only have a little time to do it)
Now that is some system for a HI nice one that's great
hmm i have a new hero in mind and i havent posted in DP for a while so i'll post it here since this place is my new tambayan lolx
as for HI making add:

@Toyoman: Thanks for your compliments! Hopefully DS will become the tambayan for others who play DOTA.
Anyway, whew. I was on a roll today and finished the builder up to the ultimate skill.
I wanna ask you guys about something. What would be the best way to rate heroes? Should it be the same as DP's or the way we currently rate strategies? Even though it will mean a lot more work for me, I think a standard polling system should be employed. What do you think?

er... drew, for those not familiar,
how does DP rate heroes?
also, what is DP?
oh ,and i was wondering if you could have something thats like an auto level filler.
and in the world editor, when ur making a skill, you set the damage amount/some other stuff for level 1 and level 2, and then, the builder fills up the rest of the levels using arithmetic progressions.
it might not be applicable for spells coz we're coming up witn quite a lotta unique spells., but then i think it can be appplicable with mana cost.
so you enter in the level 1 mana cost box:
100
and then you enter in the level 2 mana cost box:
120
and for the rest of the levels, it automatically fills up 140 and 160, which you an edit if you wish.
wait a second, there are separate boxes for mana cost and cooldown, ryt? or ar we to include all of that in the description?
and btw, so all you have to enter in the attributes is just str, agi and int, and ms and basic attack rate, and the HP, mana and regen and the rest of the stuuf comes on its own, ryt? i was just wondering how that worked....

As for rating make it that if a person rates negative he must leave a comment on why he rated negative.
Bec. it was a common problem in DP bout people who rates negative w/out commenting. (bec. they want to degrate the hero bec. of the HI competition for premium HI)

They rate it via polls (as to normal forum posts)
Dotaportal is also a Dota site (like dotastrategy and allstars) where there are also Dream Heroes (Hero Ideas) and Dream Items (item ideas) but people there are more "sensitive" with ideas and stuff (strict at maarte sila sa mga spells and stuff) too sensitive bout the numbers on skills and they want total creativity and so competition is hard

@kaizer & @yukino: thanks for your comments.
@Toyoman, yes, that is a problem even with the strategies. I will work on requiring members to post a comment first, good or bad, before they can rate the hero idea. Do you think it'll be a good idea to disclose the member's rating beside their comment/s?
Anyway, here's another update. I am *cautiously* optimistic I'll be able to finish this by the end of the week. This one really tested my programming skills (and patience) but it was good because I learned a lot of new tricks.
Once again, here's a preview of my Hero Idea, Newt The Savant:

Things to do:
1. Figure out a way to display the approved heroes, probably segregate them by side (Sentinel/Scourge) and place them in fictional taverns.
2. Add the ability to throw hero idea contests where members can choose to include their heroes if they wanted to. First place winners are tranferred to the "Tavern of Champions" (hehe).
3. Add a rating and comments system that work well together.

Hmm... question:
What happens to HI's in dream heroes sections, or the dream heroes section, for that matter? The dream heroes section could be the area for people to post ideas in bata step/unfinished product instead, so they can produce better HI's/not suffer massive fail for bad ones.

The HI section can be used, as you said, a "beta testing" area. Or a skill discussion area. *shrug* Or a hero/hero idea remake /skill remake suggestion area. Something like that..
As for the heroes..

Let the creators duplicate them in the HB? >_<

Done! The rating system now checks if you have posted at least one comment, if not, you won't be able to give a rating. I have also put in place a system that avoids spam comments and fluff ratings.
