after even more extensive play i have finally decided on a clockwerk build.
needless to say clockwerk isn't very special, he is a mediocre assist hero at best.
he lacks damage capabilities, early game he makes a reasonable killer.

lol you are absolutely right about lycan running around the map and owning heroes he couldn't have imagined owning 2 dota versions before...

kind of, 9/10 true at essence

clockwork does have several good mindgames strategy, needless to say, smart users will do good with him
