what is it with lothars

why are people obsessed with the so called escaping item - lothars..

and now since dagger has been nerfed they want to get lothars for all kinds of heroes..

there are two uses initiating and escaping

is escaping really an issue here?

if youre gonna get ganked by 5 heroes. and they can see u have a lothars.. dont you think theyll get wards?

if youre gonna get ganked by 1.. cant you take care of him?

hell buy a euls and make him cyclone for some time. purge him with diffusal, hex him and run. there are so many other disables out there


some people say buy lothars for entering combat example nevermores ulti.. hell buy a dagger and blink in .. the whole point of the new dagger is to initiate combat..

someone else just made a thread asking whether to buy lothars on panda... PANDA????? to lothars in and clap....


my question is..

is lothars really an overrated piece of crap for a non agi hero as i say it is

or am i wrong and omfg lothars pwns and im a noob and i should get it for each and every hero including riki...

You don't have to get loathers on every hero, but ppl get it not just for the 9 second windwalk, for the dmg and the agi gain. When ur gettin ganked by 5 ppl, will they buy wards, go near you, plant it, then go gank? You can see that they're not in their lane, either they're ganking sum1 or they're back to base, ppl can always esape before they even reach you.
If 1 on 1, you face a disabler such as shadow shaman,and he's winning, if u disable him with items, he can still catch up with his disables. If u use ww, he cant see u unless he has a gem or a ward near by, so he cant cast spells on you.
Loathers+death ward is a very good combo, u won't get disturbed unless sum1 has an aoe disable or ward/gem so they can can stop the channeling.
But I still agree that loathers shouldnt be gotten on Most non-agi heroes, str can tank most of them in, and int should tele with travel

I dont use lothar's that much, but it is a great item for some heroes..
of course you won't get lothar to a centaur (go for dagger, )
but there are skill combos with lothar in some heroes..

also you can push from sides without getting ganked.. wards dont help there and gem is noobie...

This is a very interesting contradiction, concocted by none other than the biggest frog. He wants to make you scrim over escaping problems, and don't want you to come to a definite conclusion, that's all.

ok, dagger is cheaper than lothar's. there is a 1900 gold difference between their price.

but, nevermore gets a lot of benefits on lothar's.
+42 damage
+21% IAS
+2.9 armor
ability to use Wind Walk (invisibility, increased movement speed, no collision on units ...just perfect for positioning his ultimate)

note: wind walk has low MP cost and low cooldown

if i have the gold, i'll buy lothar's for nevermore than dagger.

do you know the meaning of gank? It means to attack when your opponent is at disadvanatage.
Are trying to say that a Dwarven sniper,(commonly equiped with lothars) can always win a FV when he ganks you?

Also,
You said lothars is useless when they get wards. I ask you, does Lothars just give invisibility? Oh, wards are free, windwalk gives no 20% ms, lothars give no stats.
Also, if its pub, will every1 even bother to buy?

Windwalk CAN BE much better than single target disables. It allows a grp of enemy to lose sight of you. It makes u run faster.

dagger is good for entering no doubt, but a SF with lothars is unlikely to get his ultimate interuupted (not canceled) compared to a SF with Blink.
Dagger cost 2000, for 1 skill which seldom helps in escapes. Lothars recipe cost 650, for 1 skil for both entry (may be not effective )and escape and 1 agility

Ok, i m not saying lothars is a that good item. But its not crap, even on none agility heroes. It serves different purposes from dagger etc.

So now, you said ppl are obsessed with Lothars For escape,

lothars is a great item, but i must admit, even playing on the server i play on people just seem to have crazy for lothars.
i played a match the other night where the entire opposing team all had lothars.
i couldn't believe it!!!!
ah well needless, to say we all bought wards.

A - lothats on agi heroes.. makes sense.. gives you 42 damage and whatever else..

but on int and str heroes?

you missed the whole point of it.. i was talking about non agi heroes and last time i checked hes an agi hero...

my nevermore example was just that an example. there are all kinds of crazies out there . ive seen so many get lothars with heroes like sven.. lothars on sven? i mean are u kidding me... saw a magnus with lothars... i felt like shouting thats what blink is for !!!


personally i feel lothars is totally overrated and so is the whole business of "escaping" if youre farming top lane near nme 2nd tower and suddenly all the 5 nmes are missing.. use your brain tp outta there... better than that go into the trees where they cant see u and then tp... why buy a lothars for "escaping"

Lothars = For agi heroes such as Drow, Razor, or Troll

BKB + TP = Cheapest way to escape

Kelens Dagger = Timing is needed

To be blunt, only AGI heroes should get Lothar's. There are many other items that would suit STR and INT chars that can be used to escape. STr as BKB and INT has Eul's and Guinsoo's. Oddest thing ever is when a Sand King once got Lothar's, came in, epicentered the enemy and got a triple kill. WTF!?!?. Also, to prove that point many people have skills like stuns they can use to escape. Sand King can escape and kill with burrowstrike.

i aggree with Bleeper Reaper, that lothars are good on agi heroes and even not all of them, for example brood doesnt need with web and riki has perm invis and it is a waste of money. true it provides other stats, but the gold could be spent on better items
