BACKDOOR DEBATE FINAL!

Ok, this thread is to debate the backdoor tactic!

My view is that backdooring is a totally viable strategy in a dota game, and there is nothing wrong with it! DOTA stands for DEFENSE of the Ancients! DEFENSE!

You would not tell someone playing a strategy game (or any other game for that matter) that it is lame and unfair of them to attack your flanks/behind, or where u are the most vulnerable.

In any defensive game you have to watch all sides, not jus one, and the lack of defense of your team allows the enemy to backdoor, hence it is not lame on his part, it is a failure on yours to defend your base properly.

Listen im not sayin that it doesn't suck gettin backdoored, i have lost a few games that way, and have also won a few games that way. On the other hand i have experienced mine, and my enemies attempts to backdoor been swiftly stopped by a good defensive team.

It is not against the rules of DOTA to backdoor so its legal.
The fact is that you have to do what you have to, to win the game, and if you do so by not breaking any rules then its fair. Winning is winning, as long as no rules where broken.

Basically what im trying to say is dont complain about your own shortcomings as a team.

I expect this post to be closed pretty soon. Backdoor is legal, and one more reason to keep a TP scroll in your inventory.

I agree completely legal and fair.
if your in a position to do it, then go for it!!!
like you said, they must defend!!!!
and those who cry about it are just sore losers cause they never took the opportunity to do it themselves!

If u dont like it...but seriously...backdooring isn't even mentioned in Icefrogs TDA rules ingame...so I think its a viable option to try if you are about to win/loose (e.g. some ppl leave in bnet cuz u walk in their base, kill them and get supercreeps...typical but annoying)

Well in DotA, you can't have somebody babysitting your base the entire time and even with a TP scroll or Travels, it's not always that easy to defend. Take this scenario:
-You're up against a strong team who has a fat Clinkz on their side.
-Clinkz decides that he's gonna backdoor so he gets to your buildings, turns on strafe and searing arrows, and hits like crazy.
-Then he sees somebody TPing in so he windwalks and runs.
-A little after that once he sees that your team is away from the base again he does the same thing
-rinse and repeat.

Yes, he wouldn't get the buildings very quickly but he would get them eventually and that lane of super screeps could make the difference. So yes, I agree that there's no official rule and technically it is legal, but I also think that there is an unwritten restriction on it - I use the word RESTRICTION because certain circumstances would be allowed like if you've just push a lane and taken out those buildings then you can move onto other buildings FROM INSIDE the base without having your creeps there for that lane.

In the end it's all about respecting your opponents enough to beat them the proper way, and isn't it just better to know that you won because you played fair and worked for it rather than gained the advantage through backdooring.

it was a rule in dota league for a while, becasue chars like durge and furion could tear through towers in seconds, and would just backdoor at every chance, rendering the game over whtin 30 mins...

but it was never an actual rule in every game.

jeese dont complain about backdooring... obviously your just whining becasue your too slow to react.

Backdooring is not unfair, the point of the game is to defend your base. Backdooring is just a strategy to defeat your oponents base. Its not against the rules at all.

i would like too, to see some strategys to backdooring, maybe best heros to do it... imo are druid, clinck, razor, of course krobelus and maybe luna

backdooring is known as a cheap tactic and thats exactly what it is.. a TACTIC. if using it helps you then why not. im all for backdooring - thatll teach the other team to keep tp's or bots with them..

apart from the usual suspects
chen
furion
dirge
clinkz
sniper (tower doesnt even hit him)
razor

one very good backdoorer is lycan. with his two wolves.. omg. u have to see it to beleive it. and howl helps too..

try it sometime
