How Can I Place Battlenet Mode for DOTA??

I usually play with/against friends here in our friendly neighborhood cafe. What I want to know is, how do I play DOTA-battlenet mode? Is there some patch I need to download so that I can access battlenet?

Click on Battlenet then register.
