Rhasta - Learning how to save your team

Posted: Mon Nov 10, 2008 12:20 am

I have a replay of a pub game :-/...I know i didn't have a lot of time. However it shows how powerful rhasta can be in team games, etc.

http://www.dota-allstars.com/replay/72173/index.html

Rhasta is one of the most powerful disablers currently in game.

Skillbuild:
I max Net + Voodoo as the first skills, if used correctly you can get some nice early kills with your lane partner early game.

Disables (Max levels):

Voodoo - 4 second hex, with 0% spell resistance!

Net - 4.75 second disable, however it's channeled.

Mass Serpent Ward - With precise placement, could be used as a trap to basically trap enemy heroes. Magic resistance and 73 piercing damage, nice.

Additional Items to buy:

Euls (3125) - Cyclone Effect which last 2.5 seconds, has a 30 second cooldown. Improves your movement speed by 20 and increases intellect by 16 with the addition of 100% mana regen. Powerful disable for helping your team escape when being chased, while your Voodoo is on cooldown. Possible to disable up to 3 people with quick fingers.

Guinsoo (5900) - Hex for 3 seconds, same idea as Voodoo spell. Gives a nice 200% mana regen, 35 intellect, 10 agility AS never hurts Very Happy, 10 strength hp = survivability. Possible to disable someone to the act of annoyance.

As Rhasta you have an important role of keeping your team alive. With these four powerful disable items you're nearly ungankable and the best friend for your allies. You can change the tide of the game in nearly seconds. An ally being chased? Help him out with voodoo / hex.

Killing with Rhasta?
It's possible, and infact easy once you grasp the basic combinations. In a one on one situation, try to lead the enemy hero from the creep area. Once away from it, use Euls in order to trap him in your serpent wards. If placed precisely, the enemy hero will be in the center of the wards and won't be able to get out. I found it great to do a quick Forked Lightning in order to do some damage, and then follow up with a net. During these 4.75 seconds the towers will deal a great amount of damage. Once the net is finished use your voodoo skill to keep the enemy hero disabled even more. Generally by now they will be killed, if not don't forget to use forked lighting and guinsoo.

Additional Items:
I found Linkins/BKB having great synergy with the net also helpful for escaping. However I lean toward linkins more due more balanced stat gain and nice HP/MP regen.

Sceptor in order to improve your ultimate.

Shivas - Nice armor, mana regen, nice active skill which does about 200 damage plus an attack speed reduction aura.

Orchid - Another disable, which is a silence and also works as a mini malediction - amplifies damage by 15%.

Refresher - Resets all your cooldowns on everything.

Dagon - Nice burst damage, decent STR/INT addition. Situational.

Boots of Travel - MANDATORY!!!!

Additional Help:
In any situation be careful and aware of your surroundings. Note the terrain level: are you standing on a hill? Or are you near a forest with nice juking areas. Fog of war is important for surviving with Rhasta. Enemies will usually focus you since you generally have low hp and great disabling skills. In beginning of the game it's important to lane with a nuker or a powerful dpser.

Enjoy.

Wrong section sir. Replay section would be nice. If you would like to teach people how to play. I'd suggest you put a list of tactics that would "save your team". Just so everyone doesn't have to download this replay and watch it, but can learn how to save allies with rhasta by just reading your tactics. Also it'd be much easier to discuss without people posting "I didn't watch it"

I'll watch it and give my thoughts Smile

I'll write up a tactic right now...but I don't know if I could move it to the different forum section. Possibly a mod could?

so what is this? a question or an answer? if you want an answer. you need to know how to play him properly and that's about it. like knowing how to when to hex and when to shackles.

Moved

FYI hex doesn't mean 0% spell resistance, hexed units still have their armor and spell resistance.

I know they have armor but i though their spell resistance becomes 0% in hex unless they got skill resistance / hod?

Actually no. It just disables attacks, silences them, and makes their movespeed at (i think) 100. And makes their click size smaller

No problem :P.

It's just an introductory video but hey, if it's helping people understand a hero better then that's good for the community.

I got a little qeustion, why u get BoT as first item? U need to have mana for ur skills etc and rhasta isnt a big farmer. Isnt it better to get eul's first?
