Ok, just a brief summary of the entire story so far, before I post chapter 8.
Lucifer the Doombringer commanded the Scourge and ordered Kelthuzad and his Winterchill army to destroy the Protoss planet Aiur for their gain. As a prisoner of war, the Protoss princess Lanaya was turned into Lucifer's minion (as the Spectre).
Kelthuzad discovered a portal to Azeroth on Aiur, the planet that the Scourge failed to conquer not only once, but twice, under the leadership of Archimonde. Lucifer assembles his army for the attack that will herald the third coming of the Scourge in Azeroth.
In Azeroth, the survivor of the Protoss destruction, Enigma, was able to give a message and an artifact to Rikimaru, the Satyr prince, on the lands of Animalia. Enigma's death at the hands of the Scourge Elite was witnessed by Rikimaru. Rikimaru writes to his friend, Mirana, about this, but is unsure what to do.
Mirana travels to Everglades, the Elven Kingdom where King Malfurion Stormrage rules, to ask counsel. Furion decides that anything Scourge meant trouble. He summons the leaders of the Azeroth races to come to Everglades.
Tension mounted when King Purist went missing because of an ambush, according to Mirana's letter to Luna. Days before, the Human King was being troubled with dreams. Furion goes to the lands of the Treants and Stone Giants to ask for help.
Furion summons Yurnero, the leader of the Orc clan to Everglades. Days before, the Orcs become restless.
The Orcs, under Mogul Khan, attacks the Troll towns and obliterates them from the face of Azeroth. This is due to the Scourge's landing in Central Animalia, which drove them mad and blood-lusted. Yurnero does not know of this.
The Winterchill Army defeats the Protectors of the Land, the Taurens and Bristlebacks. They secure the North of Animalia, cutting it off from the mainland. The Infernals land from the skies. The main army slaughters the population of Animalians. A lightning elemental joins them wishing to usurp Zeus' power.
Up until now, the Elves and Men do not know that the Scourge has landed.
With that I give you Chapter 8

Chapter 8
He saw the heavens light up followed by the rumbling of the dirt in his feet. The ground was vibrating at an awkward pace, and then he sensed it.
From up above him, the clouds opened, and Death sped towards him.
He came on this patch of land several days ago to meditate and focus his energies. It was somewhere east of Central Animalia. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, he was able to commune with the thunder god in a much deeper level. Now he is being rudely interrupted by someone. No, something is the more appropriate term.
Quickly, he scanned the area and decided to land a few meters from where he is. He called upon his god, the thunder god Zeus, to grant him speed.
He focused on the area where he wanted to be, and in an instant, he felt the air under his feet. He could see the lightning form a straight path in front of him.
Across the path, he scooped up several rabbits and squirrels and tenderly held them in his furry hands, lest they be crushed by the speeding object. To his relief, he saw that the object maintained its course and did not follow him from above.
At this height, he saw the skies of Central Animalia being bombarded by huge numbers of the same object. He did not understand any of this, but he knew in his heart that something was awfully wrong.
He landed on the ground filled with static energies enveloping his being. The animals he picked up were safe in his arms. He patted them and whispered assuring words to their ears, and they scampered away in different directions.
He saw them off, but his ears instinctively jerked when he heard the loud impact of the object.
Turning around, he saw the dirt and soil shower the area. He did not flinch, and waited a few more seconds for the air to clear up.
In a scene repeated several times in Central Animalia, he saw fire and smoke wasting away the ground. Trees stood burning and dying on the spot. And on the center of the desolation, an unholy piece of giant, fiery rock stood hunched and immobile.
He watched the thing from a distance and kept his hands ready for anything. A panda is a gentle creature, but he is a lightning panda, a servant of Zeus, and he knows how to defend himself using the elemental power of lightning.
“By the great winds, what manner of gods is this?” he whispered to himself.
He could hear his heart pounding. The ancient war machine slowly stood, the yellowish-green flames of Hell emanating from various points on its body. Hard, solid rock constituted its entire being, and looking at its face, he knew it had no soul.
The Infernal jerked violently and strode at a tremendous speed towards him.
His eyes widened and without any hesitation, he quickly threw lightning bolts at the charging monster. It hit the Infernal squarely on the chest, the second one rammed into its right shoulder. Three more lightning bolts electrocuted the Infernal and slowed its sprint.
The ground from under the monster brimmed with static charges, slowing the creature to almost a stop. It looked at its attacker, a furry panda with a rattan hat, and with all its might, roared to voice its defiance.
He tilted his head in absolute mockery of the monster. “If I were your master, you’d be stuck somewhere in a filthy dungeon tending dying prisoners, you worthless piece of rock.” he shouted aloud.
A flash of regret came into his mind after he said this, as the monster started barreling towards him again. It knocked bushes and small trees on its path.
The combat was on a wide open plain. Again, he scanned the area for a safe landing spot, lest his lightning bolts do not stop the monster this time.
He was shocked when the Infernal closed the distance between them in a split second. It was gigantic in size standing next to him.
There was a split second time to react. The Infernal swung its right fist and aimed it straight for the panda.
He closed his eyes and felt the air under him again. Looking past his shoulder, he saw the ground crack from under the blow of the Infernal.
As he landed on the dirt, he felt a stinging sensation on his left shoulder and arm. In dismay, he saw his shiny fur singed caused by being too near the Infernal. Blisters formed on his exposed skin, causing him to grit his teeth in pain.
He threw his hat and raised his arms high. “Now begins the real fight. Prepare yourself…rock…or whatever you are!” he shouted.
The Infernal roared in response and grabbed a huge tree trunk next to it. The trunk caught fire immediately. Like a spear, the Infernal hurled the huge trunk at the now angry panda.
“My god Zeus, your servant Raijin Thunderkeg of Pandaria calls. Grant me power to kill this monster.” he prayed
He saw the huge tree trunk speeding towards him like a cannonball on fire. Drawing energies from within him, he blasted lightning bolts from his arms. One, two, three bolts. The elemental lightning energies left his arms, faster and faster they went, until the last bolt hit the trunk.
Chumb!!
The trunk basted into a million small pieces, like fireworks on the Animalian festival. At the center of the explosion, the Infernal reared its ugly head and ran to attack.
He will not make a mistake this time. Before the Infernal was within a few meters of him, he glided in the air backwards, palms towards his attacker.
The Infernal caught air on his hands, and was greeted by several lightning bolts that hit him on his head. Some bolts landed on the ground, ejecting soil and dirt from the impact.
Raijin continued his barrage of lightning bolts until he landed on the ground. Once he landed, he stopped to create a massive ball of lightning energy.
The air crackled with static as the panda concentrated to shock the Infernal. With a cry, he swung his right hand across his body, and watched as the lightning ball traveled to its victim.
The ball exploded and a thousand lightning arcs pierced the Infernals body. The Infernal stuttered backward in an awkward stance and then stopped; its head and arms lolling from side to side. He heard its dying breath as it fell on its knees. The flames of Hell which gave it life was snuffed out, and chunks of rock fell off from its body to the ground, until there was no more.
Raijin let the static energies fade out from within him, and gradually dropped his defensive stance. He walked slowly towards the monster, and studied it.
He picked up a piece of rock and held it against his eyes. Metamorphic rock, he said to himself, clearly made from fire and brimstone. But this was no ordinary metamorphic rock found in caverns of volcanoes.
He turned his sight towards Central Animalia and paused. He knew he will find answers there; clearly it was the center of an attack.
He placed the rock on his pocket and began his journey towards Central Animalia.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
An eye with a black fur peered thru the small hole created several hours earlier. It was his turn to guard the survivors tonight. He did not know if any other group of survivors survived the carnage in the streets.
They came without warning, killing everyone in sight. He marked this morning, for it was the bloodiest morning he had ever lived through.
He remembered it clearly. He was cleaning the tables on his bar and preparing for customers to come in when all heaven seemed to fall down. Massive rocks that seemed to be powered by flames started killing the population, driving everything into chaos.
He remembered running outside and seeing the death and desolation on the streets. But the worst was yet to come.
From the far street, he saw them.
Demons.
Never in a hundred centuries has any demon walked in Animalia, or in Azeroth for that matter. The Elves and Men have worked together with the different races to keep these foul creatures from ever returning.
But they are here, now, on this day and age.
Reality shook him back to his senses.
A demon hissed behind him and wanted to take a piece of his fat, juicy back. He would have none of that. The demon threw a straight with its clawed hands, but he stepped to its side, balled fist at the ready, and smacked the demon with a vicious uppercut. He grabbed his staff from behind him and whacked the demon on its face, breaking its neck. It fell dead on the ground.
There were too many of them, but he was determined to kill as many as he can.
He was interrupted on his musings by the flickering of the lamp, which is already running low on fuel. He moved to refuel it, lest they spend the night in total darkness. Outside, cries of the butchered and tortured Hooved Ones can be heard. He can also hear the movements of the hunting parties of the demons.
Hunting to kill them all.
He shook his head and convinced himself that there are other survivors, and that the Elves and Men will surely come to their aid. After all, the Human Queen Lina Inverse and the Satyr Prince Rikimaru are here in Animalia. Both were very skilled warriors in their discipline, surely their race will come here to help.
The light from the lamp renewed it intensity, and Mangix hoped that like it, their fates will be turned around.
He came to know the Queen Lina Inverse during the festival. Her fame was legendary, for she worked tirelessly to pursue the rights of the Hooved Ones in the affairs of the Elven Kingdom. Her husband, Purist Thunderwrath, stayed at Tarsarus to look after the Kingdom. Both very kind and gentle souls, Mangix thought.
Lina’s power shocked and awed him. At the festival, she demonstrated her arcane spells. She wielded the power of strange magic, combining fire and lightning to create dragons made of fire. Her most potent weapon, Laguna Blade, is able to kill anyone, Elf, Human, Satyr, Dwarf, Animal, in a single strike. But she rarely uses it, for there is no reason to do so. They were living in a time of peace.
Speaking of Satyrs, the prince Rikimaru impressed him with his agility and speed. Able to turn invisible at will, he can slice thru someone’s body with ease. His royal bodyguard Bradwarden, is a gentle, monstrous beast that can absorb any punishment you can dish out. His axe is mighty and strong, and any attack against him will wound the attacker as well.
“Where are they now?” Mangix thought.
He looked at some of the survivors. Most of them were wounded from the fight on the streets. All of them lost a loved one during the attack.
He saw a young Tauren calf sleeping at the far edge of the cave in a sitting position. Ah Taurens, with their Bristleback brothers, the protectors of the land. Where are they now?
He assured himself that the great Tauren chieftain, Raigor Stonehoof, who was a regular at his bar, has come to know of this attack. Yes, it will be a matter of hours for the rescue to arrive, he let out a smile. And he will join the fight for the liberation.
The crickets chirping outside the cave heralded the stillness of the night.
Hope is not yet lost. They just need to camp out here for a few days, feed on the grasses that they have gathered while retreating to this cave.
Flashes of the attacks came to his mind again. He remembered fighting in front of his bar against some demons, which he quickly dispatched. But the massive walking rocks were too many, and it burned his fur so bad he had to retreat, although he was able to send two to its maker.
Two Infernals tried to take on him at once along with a demon. He looked at the jar of ale on his arm sighing, and with all his panda might, slammed it into the ground.
The shockwaves disoriented the Infernals and the demon. He started killing the demon first, the weakest of the three. He held its head and clotheslined it, sending it crashing head first and breaking its skull. He lifted the limp body and threw it with such force that the Infernal was split into two. The demon’s body was beyond recognition, he almost smiled with pride.
Moving quickly, he used the upper torso of the broken Infernal to smash the head of the other one. The impact sounded like thunder, and the Infernal broke on the spot. The torso he used to kill it, well, he threw it at some demons, crushing them to bits.
With all the killing around him, he looked at his hands. They were badly burned, but his threshold for pain was astounding, he didn’t even feel a thing.
He knew that more Infernals were coming, so he gathered several wounded and instructed them to head for a cave he used to sleep whenever he gets drunk far from his bar.
He spotted the cave and led his party to it before nightfall. A Bovine chief also join them as they camped inside. Lightning flashed in the skies above, and Mangix wondered where his friend, Raijin Thunderkeg was that fateful morning.
Raijin said he will be taking a trip somewhere East to meditate. The fool, Mangix thought, communing with the thunder god Zeus will not bring him anything. He knows that Zeus does not interfere with the affairs of the mortals.
But he knows his panda friend will not abandon him. He will return, Mangix thought, with all the terrible powers of lightning at his command.
They have been at this cave the whole day, exhausted from running. He made sure no demon or Infernal followed them. If there were, he broke its neck or snuff out its fire.
“Catch some sleep, brother.” a Bovine said to him in a hushed voice. “I’ll take the watch.”
The Bovine’s lamp shone on his weary face. “Thank you brother, I shall share the watch with you. Raijin Thunderkeg of Pandaria is coming to this town and I can feel it. I want to be awake when he comes.”
He eyed the Bovine and tried to think where he first met him.
“My name is Mangix of Pandaria. I tend the bar near the capital. What is yours may I ask?” he started.
“They call me Barathrum the Spiritbreaker. I am the chief of the Bovines living near the West. All my brothers were slaughtered by the demons and their elite warriors.” the Bovine replied.
“Elite warriors you say?” Mangix asked, confused. “So there are beings more powerful than the ones I’ve killed?”
Clearly a slip of the tongue, Barathrum tried to recover from his mistake.
“Ahh, no my brother. Nevermind what I said. Go get some sleep. If your friend Raijin comes, I will wake you immediately.”
“If you insist, I need some rest myself. Thanks for assisting me in taking care of our kind.” Mangix said, standing up.
“I also thank you for finding this cave.” Barathrum replied.
“Yes, it is a perfect hiding spot. I use to come here whenever I’m drunk and wasted.” Mangix said as he started to lie to a certain spot not far from the Spiritbreaker. Within seconds, he was asleep from the exhaustion of fighting.
“Almost too perfect.” came Barathrum’s faint reply, his back turned on the panda.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
He awoke with a start. It was dawn, but he did not know of it. The darkness inside the cave gave him no account of time.
Mangix sat down and rubbed his eyes with his now fur-less hands. So it wasn’t a bad dream, he thought.
Everything was as real as his fur-less hands.
He scanned the cave for any sign of trouble. He saw some of the survivors, already waking up. Sorrow and depression was apparent from the looks on their faces.
He grabbed his rum and took a swig of it. Sighing, he stood up.
“I’m going outside and check. I’ll be back in a while. Eat whatever grass you can and take care of each other. Don’t make any noises ok?” he instructed to those awake.
Murmurs of agreement ensued.
Mangix walked to the far right of the cave. There is a backdoor here, enough for a panda to pass. He pushed the rock slowly, careful not to make any noise.
Once outside, he crouched low and waited one minute to observe the surroundings. Dawn was coming, the morning dewdrops kept the leaves moist. The trees were being surrounded by a hazy fog.
He quickly darted to a large tree nearby and waited several more minutes.
A large ant crawled up his feet. He almost howled in surprise. He slowly raised his foot and picked up the ant.
“If you are one of them, I would have killed you. Off you go.” he whispered.
Once he finally established that there was no enemy, he dropped his guard and walked. He knew these parts like the back of his hand, and he certainly knew where to get water.
His panda ears darted instantly when he heard the voices. Immediately, he hid beside a large tree.
Slowly, he peered at the source of the voices.
His panda eyes can not be mistaken. Shock and anger flooded his heart when he saw Barathrum talking with someone.
“…sure that the mighty panda warrior is here?”
“He is tired and weak, but he is still more than a match even for an Elite such as you.”
“Don’t mock me Bovine…lest you want your head cuf off.”
A shadow darted and joined the conversation.
“The panda warrior is missing. I have left Darkterror to slaughter them. He must be finished by now.”
They have found the survivors! The poor souls, may their souls be at rest, Mangix thought. His tears flooded his eyes.
A scream emanated from the conversation. When he peered at the group again, a javelin made its way directly into him. They had seen him.
The javelin embedded itself on the tree with a twang. He started to run.
“After him!”
With all the speed his legs can muster, he ran as fast as he can, avoiding trees and stepping over stones.
When he thought he had escaped, he rammed into a solid wall, or so he thought. He stuttered back from the force of opposite reaction and saw stars in his head.
“Where are you going, brother?” Barathrum said. He materialized slowly out of thin air. He held the lantern in his right hand. He swung it and found the head of the panda.
The massive panda was knocked back.
Collecting himself, Mangix replied.
“Traitor, I shall break your bones and feed it to the demons!”
“We shall see about that!” A woman with large wings blinked next to him and drove a javelin to his side.
Instinctively, he parried the attack and catched a part of the javelin. He pulled it from the woman’s hands and swung it at her wings. The left wing crumpled like paper, and he proceeded to swing it to her face.
But she was gone. He saw the woman wincing in pain several meters to his right. Instead he was greeted by a sharp pain in his ribs when Barathrum charged into him with his horns.
To make matters worse, another being appeared. This one is just a shadow, but he sensed its power.
It teleported next to him and swung its weapon, a circular blade with shears on its outside.
Attacks such as this do not bother him; he simply ducked and held his broken chest. He saw Barathrum circling his lantern like a ball of chain. When the blow came, he sidestepped and retaliated with his staff.
The winged woman joined the fray again, throwing a javelin. Reflexively, he pulled Barathrum and used him as a shield.
The Bovine chief howled in pain as the javelin pierced his shoulder. Mangix then pushed him towards the shadow being.
He stood between the winged woman and the shadow, who were surprised with his speed. The shadow took a swing at him again, and again it missed.
But he did not notice the poison dagger that the winged woman threw at him. It buried itself in his right leg, and at once he felt the pain.
Barathrum got up, bloodied from the javelin still pierced in his shoulder. He prepared to charge again.
He didn’t want to waste his ale on them, but the fight is clearly one sided. So he threw some at Barathrum and showered the rest onto the two.
Drenched in ale, the three enemies found it very difficult to hit their target. When Barathrum was close enough, he joined his two hands together and pummeled the ground.
The shockwaves almost killed Barathrum, and dazed the other two. He grabbed his staff again and raised it with two hands. He had the time to whirl it above his head for the two were clearly stunned.
A moment later, the winged woman known as Akasha and the shadow known as Mortdred were blasted away from where they stood, and on it, the panda stood in a finishing stance.
“Fools, you really think you can defeat me?” he roared, walking over to Akasha.
“Arrogant swine!” Akasha spat back, but was lifted off the ground. Mangix held her against her throat, and she struggled to break free.
“Tell me one reason not to break your neck, Demoness…”
“Because you would want to waste your powers on someone worthy of combat…”
Mangix looked to his left, and there stood the most terrible presence he had ever felt. He sensed its power and malice waiting to explode.
“You are the one responsible for this.” he said, throwing away Akasha. She crashed into Mortdred, who quickly got up and bowed.
“My lord Lucifer, we were just about to kill the panda when…”
“Where is the Bovine chief?” Lucifer asked in a grim voice.
“I am here, my lord, I have given you my entire race, and the last thing you asked of me was to lead you to this panda. Here he is, I readied him for you.” came Barathrum’s weak reply.
“You readied him? Ha!” Akasha managed to interrupt.
“Thank you for your services, Barathrum. Come here closer to me…” Lucifer commanded.
Barathrum went in front of Lucifer and kneeled down. Mangix saw Lucifer place his hand on Barathrum’s lowered head.
Barathrum jumped back in surprise. “M..my..lord?!!”
He squeeled like a pig and fell on his back. He was burning up, and then he shouted.
“You tricked…meeee!!”
He thrashed around the ground, and gave up his breath. The air filled with the scent of roasted meat.
“Food for the army…” Lucifer said, smirking.
“Curse you, Demon. I will kill you before this day ends.” Mangix said, and switched back to an aggressive stance.
“Hahahaha, you are no match for me, panda, but I wish to recruit you to my army. My scouts were right, you are a mighty warrior. Join me and you shall earn everything your heart desires.”
“And be like him, food for your army?” the panda spat.
“He is nothing like you. You are one of the mightiest Animalians. His power is nothing compared to you, for that I implore you to accept my offer.”
“If I don’t?”
“Then you shall die, along with your race. There is nothing that can save you.”
“Why don’t you try to put your money where your mouth is, foul beast?”
“If you insist, panda, I can have a servant battle you, if you kill him, then I will let you go.”
“Ha! I just almost killed two of your Elites. Isn’t that enough?”
“I was referring to him…”
Lightning crackled at the foot of Mangix and the air was surrounded by static charge. Mortdred helped Akasha to her feet and sought shelter behind Lucifer.
“Worthless bitches…” Lucifer barked at them.
“My lord, the panda just dodged our attacks no matter what we do.”
“Fail again and I shall kill both of you.”
From the heavens, lightning struck the ground between Mangix and Lucifer. A helmed being appeared, equipped with wand and shield. A terrible realization dawned on Mangix’s face. Aside from Zeus, there was only one being in Animalia that he knew controlled the power of lightning.
“Lightning??....Raijin is that you?”
Though the being in front of him looks far from a panda, Mangix wondered if this is what he will look like when corrupted to join the armies of Hell.
Lucifer did not miss it. He knew that Mangix thought that this being was a friend.
“See, your friend was wise enough to know which side is more powerful. Come with me, I promise that the transformation spells will make sure you do not suffer.”
Mangix was clearly disturbed. Why Raijin, why, he asked. The being did not answer, but lightning cracked from its aura.
“I’m sorry my friend, but I have to kill you. I will never be a part of this. My ribs may be broken and poison running thru my veins, but I will kill you first, followed by the Demon.”
“I will give the request one last time. After that, you…”
Lucifer’s words were cut short when Mangix started to run towards the lightning elemental, his staff whirling at his side.
