How a Bard Challenge works & Making an Entry

What is the Bard Challenge?
The Bard Challenge is a Hero Idea making competition named after one of this sites foremost Hero Idea makers, Bard Man.

When and how does it work?
It runs once every one or two months, the theme is released in the first couple of days and then people are given about 2-4 weeks to get their submissions in, after this time the voting starts.

How do I submit a hero?
to submit a hero all you need to do is make a hero that complies to the Bard Challenge theme and post it in a separate topic and under my strategies (making sure you submit). having done that come to the Bard Challenge thread and post a link to your hero.


How do I vote?
When voting open, a new thread is made (with the next months bard challenge) and you have 2 weeks give or take a Wednesday (when Royalty publishes heroes) to get your votes in by clicking a circle and pressing vote!

WTF my hero isn't in the top 4?!
no, it likely didn't make the cut, we get several entrants and need to narrow it down to 4, while you may not win, there is still a chance to earn a special mention in the hero ideas hall of fame, rest assured that the selection process is not rigged and takes a couple of nights on MSN to work out, try hard and maybe you can unseat on of those famous idea makers.

Well done Ghost! Hope ppl will take some time to read this before submitting in the future Bard Challenges..

P.S Whose idea was this time's challenge? Doesnt seem to be DotaMorph's even though it was his right to decide the idea.. Correct me if I am wrong!

I'm not sure yet ... I was maybe thinking of a (computer) virus hero... like, a virus floating around, typical INT (or whatever), can shut down energy, has a viral ultimate. blah blah blah

so that's going to be feb challenge's idea? seems okay. it's going to be based off a picture i have.. ghost, i'll pm it to you when the month is over. cause i don't know how to start an official bard challenge topic (like the full rules, and etc... and also because of laziness)

Well im just confused by the whole voting system that's been created...
Too many points, too complicated, and thus that is why so few people are voting!!
I belive it should be simplified majorly. Yes this will mean heroes will not be looked at and evaluated quite as thoroughly (and yes i note that ghost will scream at this, as would i back in the day) but, looking at how few people have voted and the confusing way in which they have.. i just dont know if this works well as it is atm. does anyone disagree?

Story - x/5
Stats - x/5
How awesome are the skills x/20 (5 per skill)
How balanced are the skills x/10 (2.5 per skill)
Overall Uniqueness - x/10

-that is far too much choice. a vote should be JUST that a vote.
I suggest combining alot of the above choices to form 3 simple votes:

1)HERO BEST SUITED TO THEME (vote for the hero you believe does this best)
taking into consideration the story and the suitability of the hero's skills to the hero theme for that month.

2)HERO WITH MOST UNIQUE SKILLS (vote for the hero you believe does this best)
taking into consideration the hero with the most unique but functionable skills.

3)MOST BALANCED AND SYNERGIZED (vote for the hero you believe does this best)
taking into consideration how well the individual skills work together, whether the hero has been created with balance in mind etc.

And maybe a 4th 'Overall' vote. Taking all things into consideration and choosing who you belives satisfies the 3 criteria combined more than the others.

This would leave 4 winners:
1 for theme, 1 for uniqueness, 1 for balance/synergy and 1 overall winner.

thats my 2 cents, because i really cannot be bothered voting with the current system. Takes too long to comb through each hero with all those points in mind. And so i have (for anyone who read this in the other thread haha)
