The third in my series of short stories following the deaths of certain Sentinel heroes, their last days depicted in their journals. This one features Kardel Sharpeye. Thursday, 17:00.
Honestly! These ghouls go down so easily! One headshot and boom. I must say this war is alot easier than I expected, I mean, in all the time I have been here, not one ghoul has touched me. And the Sentinel pays me per kill so I have been modifying ole' Betsy more than ever. It's only five o'clock and already there is a sizeable body count in the river. I am gonna head back soon, am runnin' low on pellets and I'm nut gonna risk my arse for nothin'.

Thursday, 20:00.
Turned in an hour ago. 'Got bored of blasting ghouls and having to pick up old pellets from their stinkin' bodies. Am gonna do so more work on ma rifle, I'm sure I can improve the range on her even more than ever and increase ma killing capability. Al make another entry when a can be arsed, till then cheerio.

Saturday, 12:00.
Been a few days since a last wrote, doesn't matter anyway, us dwarves have great memories and it's no' like anyones ever gonna read this.
So I improved me rifle and now the ghouls are actually hesitating coming anywhere near our grounds. If things keep going on like this the war'll be won in nae time at'll!

Saturday, 17:00.
Took the journal with me oot with me to the front, hopefully I won't get bored as quickly noow. Av also been keepin' count of my kills! So far, in the two hours av been out here, av nailed about sixty-odds, and the pile is gettin' bigger. The big tree-defender thing is lookin' at me funny. He's probably as bored as me. Oh how I wish a had something worth my time..

Sunday, 18:00.
Well, over the past few days I must have killed at least four hundred ghouls. My rifle is getting better and better and I fear that I must kill something with a bit more...bite than these ghouls. Some of the other champions of the Sentinel have been talking 'bout creatures lurking in the woods. Tougher than normal creatures, and the Sentinel will pay me well if I was to kill these strange beasts. Supposedly they can range from Kobolds to Centaurs to Granite Golems! With luck, these beasts will prove challenging.

Monday, 09:00
Heading out to the woods now, gonna find me some of these exotic creatures, taking the journal with me to note down what I see and how tough they are. Am takin' some Salves with me just incase I run into anything exceptionaly powerful.

Monday, 16:30.
Amazing! Indeed the rumours where true and the forest is crawling with these strange monsters. I have been so carried away with hunting them I haven't written all day.
I have encountered Centaurs, Golems, Ghosts, Trolls, Satyrs and all kinds of other things. And the best part is, when you leave the area, more of the beasts arrive! Funnily enough, I encountered a few ghouls in the forest too, a scouting party perhaps. Anyway, I am returning to the hunt, will report in to journal later.

Wednesday, 14:30.
I have been neglecting this book. I should be writing more as this journal will be what my followers remember me by! The words of the greatest dwarven sniper in history! I have been hunting the woods over the past few days, it is much more interesting than killing ghouls. Even though I have been seeing ghouls wander about the forest freely. And occasionly I swear I have seen a rather large one creeping around. Probably just a bunch of them walking together.
Disgusting animals.

Wednesday, 22:00.
Going out for a late night hunt.
The creatures are alot more abundant at night for some reason. I am taking this journal with me to record how much difference in numbers there is. Will make an entry later, 'till then am oot.

Wednesday, 22:45.
Aright, I am sure is some kind of big ghoul out here.
It growled a bit then ran away. Am pretty freaked out but hey, if I am gonna be scared away by a damn ghoul then I am not worthy of glory. Am gonna mop up some Centaurs then return to base.

-Awk! Beaten by a ghoul! How can this be? A was just takin' care of those damn Centaurs and it suddenly exploded out ae the damned things chest, and it was about the size of five normal ghouls! Grabbed me and thrashed me off the ground, broke ma leg. With every attack it seemed to be ripping my flesh apart and feeding its hunger. I managed to blast it a couple'a times but it didn't do much good. It ran off after a while, I don't know why, I really don't. As if things weren't bad enough he cracked my arm out of place.
As I tried to crawl away, he grabbed me and pulled me between to trees, causing my lower leg to literally explode from the extreme pressure. Blood was everywhere and my upper knee has turned to a disgusting pulsing purple colour and I am pretty much paralysed as I can't use my rifle either. The salves that I had were destroyed and I have no intention of trying to locate them on the ground. The pain is unbearable.

-I'm not used to pain. I don't like pain. That's the reason I always improved my rifle's range. Right about now, the pain is something that no creature should experience, but yet here I am. I am slowly bleeding to death and I know I won't make it out of here. Earlier, I convinced myself that I couldn't use my rifle because of my broke arm, when actually, it was because of the pain. I can still work my gun with my arm and even though it will hurt, one shot and the pain will go away.
