And, with a double post, comes my next chapter...After this one, I will make a strategy guide on one of several heroes that i enjoyed playing last couple of days.Here it comes:
Chapter 5: Accepted
Three days passed since Kunkka accepted Davion into the Sentinels, but Furion still didn’t know about it. He wondered how he can not know that. Roaming trough the base, he was searching for someone familiar, but it seemed that there was no one he knew there. Approaching from the shops, Purist was going towards Davion, holding a sack in his arm.
“Hi, Purist. What is that?”
“Oh, this. Take it. It’s something Kunkka forgot to give you when you joined. You see, every time someone joins here, the Sentinel give him some gold to start with.” He threw the sack to Davion.
“Why would I need gold for?” Davion asked.
“You don’t intend to go out there without anything...That gold is used for lots of equipment, such as potions, bottles, scrolls, armor, weapons, boots...”
“Yea, I get it. Any advice on what’s best to buy?”
“Well, most say that the best thing to buy is something that will keep you alive, rather then something that would kill them...Anyway, what are you doing here?”
“I...was just looking for some company...”
“Hehe, I understand...” He said “I remember when I just entered...This is a confusing world, and it changes a lot from time to time. Just don’t let anything get to you. First thing you need to learn about living here.”
“I don’t remember it changing a lot since last time I was here.”
“Trust me, it changes a lot...” Purist was silent for a second “Say, could you come with me, I need to find someone?”
Davion just smiled, acknowledging that he will come. They went trough the east gate, and into the forest. At their way out, they passed next to a huge tree.
“What is that?” Asked Davion
“Those are the protectors of the base. They are called Treant Protectors. They are protecting the rest of the base. Nothing inside can’t be destroyed without them being destroyed first.”
“How is that possible?”
“It’s a special sort of magic. It was Scourge who initially casted that protective barrier, but, with some of theirs fighters escaping to Sentinel, they also told us about that magic, and how to cast it on our own structures.”
“Their warriors escaped here? Why, and who are they?”
“The main reason was that they started disliking their intentions, so they came here, and seek shelter from Lich King’s wrath.”
With those words, he continued without saying a thing. They walked for couple of hours, seeing nothing. Davion was asking himself where was everyone. He looked at Purist, who was just going forward faster and faster. He seemed worried. But Davion didn’t ask anything, knowing that he wouldn’t even answer. They just continued silently.
After few minutes of walking, they made it to the crossroad. Road was leading left, but sign was pointing right. Purist looked at the sign, and headed in the direction it was pointing. Davion quickly grabbed his arm to stop him from going any further.
“Stop. I don’t think that’s the right way. We should head left.”
“I am pretty confident that we need to go right...My friend was passing trough here, so I bet that’s where we need to go.”
“Ok...”
But somehow Davion didn’t believe it...There were barely any differences between the two paths. Only thing was that the left one had a road, and right one didn’t. He had a bad feeling about this. Despite that, Davion followed Purist.
The path was straight trough most of its length. It seemed like it was going on forever. There were no places to set an ambush, so Davion relaxed. But the look on Purist face made him worry again. He seemed tense, and afraid, but he couldn’t figure out why.
Finally, it seemed as they reached the end of it.
“Well, that was a waste of time. Let’s go back, before something attacks us.”
“You’re right. She is probably in the base right now.”
Davion began to realize what was going on. But, out of nowhere came some a subucuss. She let lose of a piercing scream, that threw both of them backwards and of their legs. When he got up, she was right next to him. First thing she did was stabbing a purple dagger into his stomach. It pierced trough armor, and slowed him down. Meanwhile, Purist got up, and saw them two fighting. He quickly casted the bright light onto Davion, that healed his wounds, and made the subucuss fall back.
“Are you alright?” Asked Purist, slowly moving towards Davion
“I believe so. Who was that?”
Few seconds later and she reappeared, letting lose of the same scream again. Purist was knocked out, while Davion was just slightly knocked back. This time she turned her attention to Purist. Injured as he is, he couldn’t stand a chance of surviving few more blows. He had to help him. He tried to charge, but he was still under the effect of slow. He tried once again, but he couldn’t. He closed his eyes, and awaited his friend’s likely demise.
Instead of his friend’s last screams, he heard a sound of ice cracking. He opened his eyes, and a blonde sorceress, with a blue robe, was attending to Purist’s wounds. But the subucuss was getting free from the ice. Davion felt the slow gone, and charged at the subucuss, slamming his shield of her head. After that, she received some more blows, but in her torso. He was preparing for final strike, but she just disappeared into thin air.
“What was that? And who are you?”
“I’ll explain later, but right now, we need to take him to the fountain.”
She quickly took out a teleportation scroll, and started channeling it. Shortly later, they ended up in the base. The sorceress was putting Purist down near the fountain, which started to heal his wounds.
“Ok, will you now tell me who you are, and what was that thing?”
“My name is Rylai.”
“Were you the one he was looking for?”
“I believe so...”
She looked concerned. Davion was silent as well. He looked up, and saw somebody familiar.
“Here comes trouble.”
“What is it?”
It was Furion. He was just passing by, and he saw Davion at the fountain.
“What are you doing here? I already told you, I am not letting you join. No matter what.”
“You don’t have to. I am already a part of Sentinel.”
“What? Who accepted you?”
“Kunkka.”
“To my tavern, now.”
Davion relieved for a moment. He thought that something far worse would come out from this talk. But then he stopped. Why would he call him to his office?
“So, you are the infamous Knight Davion, son of Furion.”
“Yes. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to go see my father.”
He ran off in the direction of the taverns.
At Furion’s tavern:
“Why did you call me here?”
“You did well. I must say, it’s not everyday that someone outwits me like that.”
“I learned from the best.” Davion smiled.
“I was keeping something away in case you enter this war...” he started digging trough some drawers.
“Well, seems you do think of everything.” He said, still smiling.
“Nothing is impossible. You joining here was just a matter of time. This is what your mother gave to me. She told me, if you ever join this war, that I should give you this...”
He took an amulet out of a crate. It looked like a horn, with a skull attached on the top. He gave it to Davion, who, after receiving it, left.
He went to his tavern. Taking a closer look at it, he noticed some encryption at the back of it. It said: Put me on, and I will grant you the power you can’t even imagine... He knew that it was some sort of trap. But he couldn’t resist it. He remembered what happened to Tyrande, and what could have happened with Purist. “If this power can help me end this war, I will take it.” He put it on, and instantly received a shock. He felt a surge of power that kept him on the floor. Purple energy field was surrounding him. Suddenly, as fast as it began, it stopped. Shortly after that, Davion fainted.
