What is more important, farming or denying?
Posted: Thu Feb 22, 2007 4:16 amI'm just wondering what are your thoughts about this topic. I'm not that good at both but what will you prioritize? I sometimes think that denying is the best choice but when I deny so much, the othere hero deny too so it just cancels all out. But when I farm good, they farm as much as I do. And I can only do good when I am using a range hero. When I'm melee and my opponent is range, I am having trouble denying and farming. What should I do then, should I farm so I can buy good stuff or deny to outlevel my rival???

check first how the opponent play
if he is good on denying go deny too...
if he farms deny too...
denying and farming is quite a hard thing to do especially if you're doing it both but if you can make some last hit on your opponents side it'll be better
deny has 2 benefits
no experience for the opponent
no money for him either
but problem in farming can be compensated if you creeps out neutrals and ancient while opponent is out or not in there...
so i'll go denying

i'll go for denying early game and farming later on...
denying, gives less experience to the opponent [not no xp, it also differ between range and melee, less xp is denied on melee than on ranged], no gold for a denied creep for your opponent, and pisses him out too...
denying early game slows the process of your opponent leveling up, which means he doesnt go stronger, thus he cant do much harm to you and to your creeps...
on a certain level youd be strong enough to farm easily with brute strength or with spells... aoe spells and cleave skills works a charm in farming of course without worrying too much of last hitting...
i suggest you use a hero that benefits from last hitting and denying to practice these ARTS... i suggest heroes such as bloodseeker[gains hp for that] and nevermore[increases damage]...

farming beefs up ur hero while denying is stopping ur enemy from beefing up. Pick One

if you want to farm early
get rid of your opponent as soon as possible...
or go with midas if you can afford

yes.. you could farm freely and forget about denying if there is no opponent on your lane...
try to harrass [kill if possible] your opponent every once in a while to force him to go back to his base leaving you solo in your lane...

both are important but if you measure the need and the advantage denying wins, since it gives you advantage over the opponent by level and by gold maybe.

but in some cases, maybe farm needs to be concentrated on more.

yes in some cases you need to farm more... but overall, denying is more important than farming...

Deny early, farm later.
Farming will be a breeze when you have higher damage.

Do both as much as you can but if not, early game, at least deny. You can make up for lack of farming late game anyways. Your job is a lot easier if you can successfully harrass the opponent a few times too.

If there's an enemy in your lane, deny.
If not, then creep pull.
That's for early game only though. Later in the game, denying is less significant since killing the hero would be almost the same as denying exp.

For me neither are important.
They are essentials in the game.
Just come to think of it if both are denying how can they level up?
If they can farm then who farms better?
it makes less of importance late games (particularly denying)
I'm into farming over denying..
