Decent story, although I agree with Gunslinger when he said you repeated the phrase "They were too old for ghost stories too many times". Also, the way the granddad told his story didn't make me feel sad at all, you made a sad story all happy with too many exclamation marks. Nicely written overall though.

I cant help using exclamations and being happy I think! I got the same complaint in my other fan-fic on the Naga's..

well i liked it cause it represents your writing voice AND it reminded me of Curious George a bit with the narration... which is a BEAST show btw.. which makes this fan fic a BEAST as well! Cool
