Okay, question. How is Roof NOT the best anti-gank hero EVER?
He can give sight of all the gank lanes for everybody on his team. He isn't like AM, or Naga, or somebody that is just able to escape by himself, but he's the only hero that can prevent anybody ontheir team from being ganked.
On top of that, he can go invis and get away if he's stuck somewhere without an escape route.

in case of escaping, for me the best is magina. Stupid blink...
In case of counter gaking, The king of all is Lich, noone wants to be alone, with and ally in the woods chacing a lich xD. This comes specialy when you are in a pug and your allys are stupid enough to stay near you.

I could write a long post about blinkers and invisibles. Or smart heroes with scouts like Lycan or BeastMaster but the answer is Leo.

AM with good ms and a blink;
Omni with a slow aura, a heal, an anti magic, and an anti phy ult.
But I think still some of the most ridicious "anti gank" would be from Earthshaker, simply because many times the gankers can become the ganked.

early game is weaver,clinkz,bounty,tree,etc...WWers.
mid game are akasha,antimage,riki,tree,weaver, and then the WWers
late game is without a doubt.storm.

KoTL's ULtimate that calls a hero to him, KoTL is at fountain, and use it on ally, just wait a couple of secs, and you there.

I think Roofy wins hands down. He has insane HP, super high armor, a huge aoe disable, free wards, AND AND AND invis. It seems as though all of his skills simple piles ontop one another so that he can't be ganked. Not only that but he is also a team player like serp said, not only can he himself go invis he can also make his teammates go invis.

Roofy got nerfed and buffed as an anti-ganker since his eyes changed.
Now his eyes can't be easily detected if you put them in a wise spot. However, you can't cast them on trees people generally can't reach.
The big counter, however, is tree-destroying skills like Rexxar or Riki.

Medusa can escape quite a few ganks with her ulti, even after stuns she can withstand a fair bit of damage with her shield. Silences don't deactivate mana shield so the only major weakness is mana burners.

But then map awareness is like the be all end all kinda thing... so it's like saying you are a master of figurative language if you get metaphors. xD
