Heroes like Pitlord who can farm up the 200g back in one creep wave.
(or)
Heroes who really don't need items early game and can do a favor for the team.
(or)
The carry because he needs his items and no one else is going to bother buying one for the team.
Problem is in pub games, no one EVER buys a courier. So I have to do it most of the time.
Also, in pubs, people (big time noobs) may get confused about where their items went and won't check the courier.
If you are going to suggest stop playing public games, well....just DON'T.

In pub games, you know how you said that no one ever buys a courier?
I'm gonna assume that one team isn't gonna get more than one courier.
If you're the one that buys the courier, then you're gonna think that no one ever buys one, and that your team is noob.
But if someone else buys one, then THEY are gonna think that YOU'RE noob for not buying one for the team, and that YOU'RE noob.
How's that?

I always ask.
Me: Is anyone going to get a courier?
Them: (no response)
Me: nvm. i'll get one
Them: (no repsonse, fighting over lane picks)
Me: *sigh*
Once in a while,
Me: Is anyone going to get a courier?
Some guy: k. i will
Me: TY. You're the best!
Once that some guy lagged and left after buying the courier. So we had two couriers- him and his courier. :|

I just share courier with my friend. Depends. He usually buys one so I benefit from him.

If the game is for pubs, I usually see that one courier per hero.
That's just sad.
But when me and my friends play, there is only one. That one is either a carry or for bottle transport/ward.

We turned our Eagle into an Auramancer once. We brought it along with us.

I always buy the courier. Even during my league games, I always buy the courier since I usually play support.
In pub, I also play courier since no one bothers to buy it.

if i get a chick i wont share it unless my friends are playing with me. Too often the noobs complain about their items being gone because they dunno that the chick has them, and waaay too often they get my chicken killed. Sometimes i have fun and ask them a dota question and if they get the right answer then i share chick with them, the question could be: "should u get Vanguard or Battlefury on Tidehunter?" If their answer is that none of the items should be gotten on Tide, then I share chick.

Get a chick if you're:
lion
leviathan
puck
etc.
heroes who are useful with a few items. I don't usually buy a chick (upgraded to a crow) except only if I have a bottle and I need to send it back and forth to the well for refilling, hp and mana for harassing.

I generally play with friends so the support hero gets the courier [and that should be the case preferably].

no courier is for when you are fed and want to have fun.
heres what to do:
make courier flying
Get it a Bloodstone
a dagon
a necrobook
shivas
mek
and then something else to support i guess
but anyway go get kills with him and help your team and don;t use your hero just to piss off other team
ANYWAY

but yeah i will only buy courier if i am jungling or are support
