a game with techies, 4v5 or 5v5?
Posted on Wed Nov 04, 2009 12:06 pmsome time ago, there were lots of debates about techies played in real games. most of the people (ghost, cfx etc.) always responded with techie is pub only, is only for fun.
but watch this replay here.(see bottomn of post) you see techie rushing aghanims (don't mind me failing with necro, seer and gondar were kind of bob...) and he uses it in teambattles as nukes. 750 AOE dmg is a whole lot. he places them, makes them boom and runs away. he even nets some easy kills.
after i lost this game. my mind has changed about techies. he carried the enemy team and won the game for them.
watch it and if you are still against techies. you better have some proper statements. because he really won this game.

it depends on your perception. as soon as they got a gem, and common sense, it isnt 4v5, but definitely not 5v5.
and dont give that "who would buy a gem so early?", because thats the only reason why any decent line-up would lose against him

were you necro??!?!?! I thought you won the Dutch championship or something. And I thought you were bluffing, but I didn't know you were this bad!!
The techies were pretty ok, but I've seen him in competitive play.
Our teammate once used him in preliminary round in Farm4Fame(the first one), and because of his awesome techies skill, the other team's carry(i think it was nevermore) became food to everyone. Thus allowing our carry(spectre) to out carry nevermore.

its not about placing 20 mines on one spot. its about casting remote mines from 750 range and letting it explode. causing huge AOE dmg (almost the same as tides ult).
he did that about 3-4 times in a teambattle.
but you guys didn't even watch the replay anyways.
@ luffy, you can't judge the player by one game. i failed hard there. but if seer had a gang once every 5 minutes. i would have completeley crushed the lane. you can see meepwn (rankged 6th on dl) also playing bad.
fail troll arguments you made there.

I do not play competitive dota so i can not comment on his viability on the league scene. In pubs however,once he has farmed sceptor and some regen items he can be a total pain. Everyone just says "GEM". Such an over-rated item to counter him. Anyone with a brain just plants landmines on hill side early then relies on remotes with sceptor. Sceptor with remotes, again gem in uselss, he just plants them around u and detonates. Even if u have gem all you get is a split second flash and boom. I could go on and on about how awesome he can be but.......should he really be farming that much and taking creep kills from whoever he is laning with. I suppose it could be possbile but then what would u rather have a fed techies or a fed carry?

i'd like to but not in the situation
as much as im concerned, farming that agha would mean that, you got the kill, our you either didnt suicide gank intensively.
techies isnt the worse, i'd say. take example of some others and you'll note a linear peculiarity. he's just not the top 20 heroes i would put into a line-up, just that.

thats true, techie farmed a tower or two and got some neut kills. he wasn't a problem. until he got agha (which was rather late if you ask me) then he started to rape. he placed remotes all over the map for wards and he killed creepwaves all over the map.

and so we could cocnlude that many other heroes can do the same thing with less risk, and more reliable output.
it's not really like that; for example, only DTS uses sniper consistently because Dendi is awesome with him and there isnt much solution to him once he passes the holes. if you have an exceptionally great techies user, that would be your general advantage, but again, not many teams emphasize such heroes as an asset.

ohhhh.. a techies discussion..
i don't want to get flamed or anything, just my own two cents,i think techies can be a viable pick for league games, since the proper usage of his statsis trap ang his ulti can disable or wipeout a whole team, then again, a gem can counter that, but i think a good techies user can still rape even if the enemy has gem

if that was the case he would have been used repetitively by now.
the phrase "i think a good (insert name here) user can still rape even if the enemy has (insert counter here)" is really dumb because if every single person in the world has brains, we would have achieved world peace.
hypothetical queries remains hypothetical, and the fact techies has not yet reached any significant breakthrough is a fact

Maybe i am noob but if i download that replay, I can't see any techies in it.
I got "lastreplay-1257336012.w3g".
Maybe the dota-league site gives me the wrong replay although the description of that download page says "wp techies"....

Gem is a counter in pubs.. Anyway.. i think planting the normal mines in a fog of war places can be deadly for the opponents. And I doubt in teambattles some1 will see a stasis trap .. and a good stasis trap can give enough time for killing the enemy team. The Agha ulti mines are good too. And the CD is not that big.. so
I think techies has a rolle in team battle
