When, Where, and How to Scout?

When, Where, and How to Scout?

I tried scouting a million times and I don't exactly know
if I'm getting better cuz I just play with A.I.s and they
rarely gank and even if they do they always go to the rivers
to gank so I just put Observers there.

So my question is :

When do I scout?
- Do I need to buy observers at the VERY beginning
(when you started picking your heroes) of the game?

OR

- Do I just buy a courier and buy some stuff for survival THEN
probably after five minutes I start putting the observers?

- When do I go to the enemy turf to scout?

Where do I scout?
- I don't know any scouting area besides the river...

- Any suggestions where?

- If its not a trouble , can any of you give me a video for
where the scouting areas can be found?

How do I scout?
- Do I just leave my partner when its past five minutes
and start putting observers?

OR

- Do I find a right time to leave my partner?
- When is the right time?

and if you think I'm a newbie cuz I ask this kind of questions
then so be it...
AT LEAST I'M TRYING TO FURTHER ENHANCE MY GAMEPLAY!!!

Boots did a good job on this, for warding and support.

Depending on the heroes, the priority is courier>crow>wards, in most cases.

Whenever you go out of the lane to fill a bottle or similar, that is a good time to ward.

And public players do NOT ward. So while you are practicing a useful skill, you are going to have to deal with the fact that warding is appreciated, but not viewed as a useful skill, even if it is vital.

Good players realize that wards are good, but some do not realize that.

Haha I started scouting when Im always being gank
and then I have to laugh my ass so much when they
said, "HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS COMING?!" or
"DAMN YOU!!! JUST WEEKS AGO I CAN GANK YOU NOW IT
FEELS LIKE I'M BEING GANK BY YOU INSTEAD!"

No... my fault for the misunderstanding
but that was like a three months ago,

I was playing in a pub then my friend
just keeps on ganking me cuz I have
cm and i got pissed so i put some observer
where he usually ganks me...

so it was like this...

i was killing creeps in the bottom lane
then i saw him coming (THANKs THE CREATOR OF DotA
for putting wards in the item shop!!!)
so i ran towards my tower he followed me
and after like 10 secs of chasing me he went
back to his reinforcements and attacked my tower
then its my turn to gank him and since he was
near my tower...
i took advantage of it
since i knew he's gonna think i'm very fragile...
he's gonna attack me and ignore the tower attacking him...
so i went near the tower while he's attacking me
then frostbite him then freezing
pulled a close one there there cuz he survived but
i just killed him with a crystal nove
AND I KNOW ITS A SUICIDAL THING TO DO BUT WHAT CAN I DO
I WAS JUST A NEWBIE AND right now i'm barely good at this game

okay, so generally what you want is for one hero to get a courier right away, then another hero gets wards right away.

For the first set of wards, place one with sight of a rune spawn. If your opponents are better than pubs, then you can place another rune to stop creep-pulls, otherwise just keep it for later.

At the 5 min mark buy another batch of wards (and every 6 mins after that buy another set. So 11, 17, 23, 29, etc minute marks).

For the second set of wards place one by the rune spawn in your long lane (sent bot, scourge top), and the other in the jungle by your short lane (sent top, scourge bot) to avoid being ganked.

After the second set of wards, placement should go as required by the game. If you have map control, place wards in their forest so you know when and where they're jungling (offensive wards).

If they have the map control then place wards in your own forest access lanes, so you can see when and where they plan to gank (defensive wards).

Runes should be warded constantly until roughly 30 mins mark, or when there is only one or two lane towers left up for a team.

When pushing an outer lane tower (bot or top) place a ward behind the tower for vision. When pushing mid tower place a ward on top of the hill OR behind the tower for vision.

Visage is also a good option, practice without paying, what else?

well actually also depends what role your playing because if you are playing a dps then i suggest you to place only one ward on the rune spawn only on YOUR side of the map, because it is very useful to watch out for ganks towards you, and your 100 gold spent on one ward will be very usefull to saving your life
