Do I need Original Version of WC3 and FT to Play online

Ok before i gets flamed to death, I have a cracked version of Frozen Throne which i play dota against friends via Hamachi or Lan at my place.

What do you reckon is the best way to be able to play against people without much lag and so that i can get a regular game?

Additionally i'm not that great of a player... but need to learn more. I know most (basic) skill builds etc. (thanks to DS!)

I assume Hamachi would be the better idea, but just want to know thoughts of regular players... think of me as a n00b to pwn.

Also i'm in Perth, Australia and have a broadband2 internet connection (decent by Aussie standards).

Also (again) maybe a Hamachi server/room... sorry if i was lazy and only used search tool twice...

You should try Garena. Cracked version work there. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe theres an Aussie room there.

If you want to play Bnet, then you need the original, which you have to buy The Frozen Throne.

I've never tried playing Hamachi, so sorry if I was not help.

Which Garena server? or doesnt it matter?

Also (edit) What room do we play in... i've heard of a DS room or is it only for good players?

You can also play on Bored Aussie without the original wc3. Although you need someone to invite you which is the problem. And like what the others said above, you can play on Garena too. There are heeps of Australia Rooms there but it's sometimes very hard to get a game there compared to Bored Aussie.

ok thanks guys! I've joined Garena, so i go to WAR3 RPG... and then join a room...

but there don't seem to be games up? Is this normal?

Your WC3 version must be up to date. And you must set the address of your WC3 file under setting, then press start game.

Some rooms don't have games or you just have to wait. It's a pain to find a game in Garena, but they're better than Battle.net.

Thanks BlowThaCandlesOut, I'll download a patch for Warcraft and add in the settings thing when I finish work... in 9 hours -.-

Hey another question.. i didn't want to create another thread. I'm able to host because i've got a pretty decent comp and internet connection. What's the standard game mode for garena?

Whenever i play mates its usually -ar or -ap... are there other options i should use as well?
