The boots+one set tango

Serpentson: mana is not really a big problem if u have CM on ur team. I've tried roaming with boots first with venge several times, and the mana was no problem. If it is, then u can have crow bring clarities, magic stick, bottle, whatever. Also done double roam with CM and venge and that also worked fine with boots, however with the double stun we might not have needed the boots.

This is exactly why boots works so well as a first item: because no one else gets it as a first item.

I never get boots as a first item and I told my girlfriend not to either but she always starts with boots + healing potion and just about always ends up with the best score on the team. Of course this is on battle.net
but there are the ocasionally pros on there.

Anyhow, boots gives you plus to escape and chase (as mentioned before) plus it helps you deny/last hit as a melee hero while minimizing incoming damage. It also gives you mobility to get to the runes faster. Running to a rune from a lane, without boots, is like watching water boil.

Anyway, I never get it but I thought I'd try to vocalize my thoughts and see if I could understand why my girlfriend religiously starts with boots+healing potion.

I've seen people build roaming VS with boots too, and you have no idea how easy it is to counter gank her. If you're gonna gank, you need to at least out-survive the opponent. Boots leaves you with dangerously low survivability. The few exta attacks you can do with your superior MS and animation-cancelling can be substituted with bonus damage from ironwood branches. It is much safer to buy stats than being paper and fast.

So, when you play a game with roaming venge you're automatically going to waste use another hero pick on cm just so you can have boots that aren't needed to properly roam? that seems like a huge waste to me. Also, cm is popular pick/ban, so building venge boots first means u can only use that if cm is available.

And on top of that, you force CM to skill aura right away. When I play CM, I normally don't put a single point into it until level 3, so if that's what your relying on when you roam, it's just another weakness.

No, it is much better to have 1 tango, 1 flask, 2 or 3 clarities, and 3 gg branches. When you're roaming, you spend a significant time out of any lane, just walking and waiting for a good opportunity to gank. This provides you ample time to use clarities, so it's not even like they're going to be cancelled and wasted. On top of that, having the larger hp/mana pool, with the extra regen items allows you to save straight up for bottle. And those three ironwoods? not a one of them wasted since I get a magic wand. Only after I get those do I even think about getting boots, and sometimes I get a circlet or two first.

I have seen some ppl try to roam with venge. Most end up failing with just boot. If you randomed her then you can atleast get boots+magic stick and some other heals. But if you choose her its no good. better to magic stick, tangoes, clarities, ironwood.

i get it for jug and bara only
but it depends on my mood
sometimes i buy stats items for them too

never tried feeding before with this build on the 2 heroes though

Well what I meant was. Buying boots+tango or boots+flask and going roaming with vengeful = fail.

yeah, boots first on a roaming hero is pretty much auto-fail. Even in that replay, it was -ar and i didn't go boots. I went chick/wards with clarities, tangoes and flask.

the rude SA was antih3ll from DS, btw.

Same, I was normally support player for my old team. So i always had to buy the chick and wards, and i never farmed so i never had any items to put on the chick. :P I buy it out of habit, and find it sometimes to be passing useful, but i never use it like i should.

Serpentson: I've done roaming in CW for a couple of times and I tried boots once, and I dont think that they were as much fail as u make them to be.
I'm not saying they're a must, I personally also prefer getting stats and consumeables, I just think that in some situations they can work very well such as when we did our double roam we ganked everywhere and got levels quite so we had the aura pretty early aura. I also got lucky that I got the FB so I immidiatly could get magic stick and clarities.
And btw, its not like we picked CM only so her aura could help the roaming venge, kinda got the impression that u thougt I was saying that, but sorry if I'm mistaken. We had the CM and picked the Venge afterwards when our opponents didnt pick her.
Oh and I want to correct myself from post you quoted: I havent played roaming venge with boots several times, I've played it once and seen it on replays several times. Sorry if this changes the discussion abit, it would be comprehensible.
Now I'm not a ganker/roamer expert since I just started playing that role after only bplaying carry and semi carry, So I dont know how much I know

Daman: U are right, I dont have an idea how easily she can be counterganked because counterganks at lvl 1-4 are extremely rare, since people mostly dont have tp's at that point of the game.

You wanna roam with VS?
word of advice
1. get a birdie
2. get branches and circlets
3. tangoa and clarities( to spam your stun)
4, finish up bottle and buy wards before anything else

map control and rune abuse pawns counter ganks. making you roam effectively. and besides... you shouldnt be roaming if your team doesnt know how to lane control effectively, and draw your enemies out of their "i'm so-safe-oh-i'm -near-my-tower haha zone"

boots come after bottles. thats how i play ym roaming vs. and i roam from lvl 1.
and i make sure i everyone on the enemy team has problems farming

Might get underlevel at times, but my teammates are all higher level than the enemy and they are far richer.

AND NO YOU DONT NEED BOOTS TO ROAM EARLY.
