FIX WINDOWS 7 FULL SCREEN
Posted on Mon May 17, 2010 1:03 pmHere is the way that i solved my problem.
to make my windows 7 ultimate to widescreen.
here is it.
1) Open Regedit (Windows + R, type "regedit")
2) Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Video
3) Edit resheight and reswidth to suit your requirements.
Note :
- For Resheight and reswidth right click\modify(choose Decimal) set value to your screen resolution. Ex : (1280 x 800)
Hope will be useful for you all...

Does somebody know another solution to this problem?
If I go with regedit and change the resolution the game will run in widescreen but the resolution will be at 640X680 which makes everything really big.
another fix pls?

This is very helpful. Thank you. I think the reason it does this is because you have to run RoC and TFT in compatability mode since they were developed in 2003 and it uses some sort of default setting.

I run wc3 at 1920x1200 on win 7, without any compatability settings, just rarely it decides to reset the size, most of the time it works fine.
Wait, actually I lied, I use the disable desktop-something, as I had the problem, that wc3 kept minimizing itself.
And as far as I know, the only way to change the resolution to anything but the standard sizes, is via regedit. Not sure about this, but it feels like it just stretches everything to fit the entered resolution if you change the regedit, takes some getting used to...
Also wc3 says in my options, that the size is 640x480, but that is just because my resolution isn't in the standard list, otherwise I wouldn't need that regedit stuff anyways
