Yay thread for replay help!

I can't play the replay since it's in different version.
There's a couple of programs out the that makes it play a different version and stuff. But it's all complicated! So just do what I do. It works for 1.20 and 1.21 only though.

First off, get this . Extract that and you get two folders with the names of the patch version. Now how do this works? Make sure you're using the latest patch, 1.21, before proceeding. Well, that's because I don't know what'll happen if you did this in other version :P

So anyway, simply copy the files from folders, then paste them directly in the Warcraft folder. So if I wanted to watch 1.20e replays, I'd copy the files from the 1.20e folder and paste them in the Warcraft III folder. If it asks you to overwrite, go ahead. You'd maybe want to save a back up of the original files though.

So yeah. Afterwards, open your Warcraft, and the version number there is depending on the files you've copied! And yes, you can watch 1.20e replays now if you've patched the newest versions. Also note, Warcraft really recognizes that you've changed versions. This way you can play 1.20e in GG Clients (since most pinoys didn't even bother to update <.<), and use 1.21 when playing on Bnet! Yay!


Warcraft complains that I don't have the map.
First. Ofcourse check if you have the map =P. Next would be placing it in the right directory. When Warcraft complains, it will right down on which specific folder it is searching for the map. You have to put it on the right folder, with the right name to work. Normally, all maps are saved on the Downloads folder, and make sure that the filename doesn't have _s. Like, DotA_Allstars_8.292F.w3x is different from Dota Allstars 8.292F.w3x. Normally, maps uses the space rather than _s. So yeah.


How do I rewind it? How do I watch a certain time in the replay?
Simple answer: you can't.
Long Answer: The replay files you've saved is more of a save of commands each user inputted. When you play a replay, Warcraft is doing the commands each player in the game did, so it's like playing the game all over again! Since it's playing a game, you can't actually rewind it, or jump at a certain scene, can you? So yeah.

Ask moar help here!

Mods: suggest to pin and perhaps upload the files that changes the version in your server or something? =P[/b]

Nope. The only way to view something that has passed is to rewatch the whole replay. The replays are actually sort of saved commands of the game. So it's like playing the game all over again, but this time with all the actions the users inputted. Okay I talk weird. =P

Well, it's re play . It plays again. :P You can always rewatch the replay at 8x speed until you get to the part you want to watch *and didn't noticed and stopped too late and you have to try again XP*

For some reason, ChaosAngel can't use the Version Changer thingy. Anyone else experience the same thing? Also, would providing screenshots for it better?

I fixed what I said, silly. BTW, I'll look up on the stuff tomorrow and see what I can do. And probably provide step by step screenshots as well. Maybe. Probably.
