me and my brother were playing DotA yesterday
i was sentinel with slayer
he was scourge with tidehunter
i had my laguna blade maxxed out and also had the aghanim scepter((so that is 1250 damage)) right
but when i started hitting him with the laguna blade, he lost only around 200 Hp
when i checked his armor it was 30
so plz tell me whether it is possible or not because i find it hard to believe as he won the match

Seems that it was impossible.
Even if he used Hood of Deviance + Planeswalker cloak....
=> Note: Armor quantity doesn't effect to reduca spell damage.

Just for comparison, Magina spell shield lv4 + Hood of Deviance + Hero natural magic resistance + Planeswalker Cloak will also get more than 200 damage when hit by laguna lv3 + aghanim...

Hmm.Imposible.Armor reduces damage from Phsysical attacks,not from spells.

Maybe Laguna Blade is counted as PHYSICAL and not MAGICAL. ^^,

Or maybe, its the effect of Kraken Shell!

nope.. it's IMPOSSIBLE! laguna blade is 100% MAGICAL, kraken shell does not reduce damage from spells, even w/ all the spell reduction items it's impossible for a lvl 3 laguna blade w/ scepter to do 200 damage

Maybe he got lots of Spell-reduction items and used Mekansm after you cast Laguna Blade.

leviathan w/ HoD will only have 47.5% spell reduction. and that would only decrease laguna blade's damage by half, which is 625, which is too far away from 200.

Maybe you aimed Laguna Blade at somebody else... A creep or another enemy hero or something.

Kraken Shell ALSO reduces spell damage.

As for the aforementioned scenario.. Are you sure it was 200 HP?

Maybe because of Kraken's Shell and HoD, plus he had a flask of sapphire activated.

Maybe he had 200 HP AFTER you casted Laguna Blade... Or maybe it's a bug.

I hope this one helps.
All heroes have an innate ability to resist spells cast upon them. This resistance reduces spell damage (nukes) by 25%. In addition, there are a few items like the Cloak of the Magus (CotM) or spells like Spellshield (SS) from the Anti-mage which can further reduce the damage taken.

Item reduction will NOT stack with the Anti-Mages's Spellshield. Infact, even though the item resistance is weaker than spellshield, it will take priority.

Level 4 SS is 60%.
CotM and Aegis are 15%.
Hero Resistance is 25%.
Hero Resistance with CotM or Aegis is 36.25%.
Hero Resistance with Level 4 SS is 70%.
Hero Resistance with Level 4 SS and CotM is 36.25%.

So to find out how much you take from a spell:
(Nuke * (.75 * (1-X))) - 1 = Damage taken.

Examples:
Laguna Blade 950 damage, No Extra spell resistance.
(950 * (.75 * (1-0))) - 1 =
(950 * (.75 * 1)) - 1 =
(950 * .75) - 1 =
712.5 - 1 = 711.5 Damage Taken.

Laguna Blade 950 Damage, Level 4 SS.
(950 * (.75 * (1 - .6))) - 1 =
(950 * (.75 * .4)) - 1 =
(950 * .3) - 1 =
285 - 1 = 284 Damage Taken.

Laguna Blade 950 Damage, CotM or Aegis.
(950 * (.75 * (1 - .15))) - 1 =
(950 * (.75 * .85)) - 1 =
(950 * .6375) - 1 =
605.625 - 1 = 604.625 Damage Taken.
Note: This will be the damage taken even if you have SS on while equipped with a CotM or Aegis.
