The DotA Games

Chapter 2
Showdown at Lordaeron

The breeze rustled the trees as a sudden gust of wind blew through the forest. Tyrande Whisperwind stood waiting in the clearing which was in front of a magnificent waterfall. A pale blue glow emanated from the fresh spring water. It is said that all who bathed in the waters of this waterfall would have their wounds healed and their mana restored. Even though she was not bathing in it, Tyrande could feel the glow of the water taking a slow but definite effect on her. The gust of wind blew next to her as the shape of a druid and a giant treant began to manifest in the wind. Standing there after the wind had calmed was Furion Stormrage and his loyal guardian Rooftrellen.
“Shando*, my love, what news do you bring?” said Tyrande unphased by his sudden appearance.
“The war has come to a stale mate Tyrande, my love. And I fear that we may soon lose Nodrassil**.”
“Whatever do you mean my love?”
Furion let out a heavy sigh “Kel’Thuzad has arranged to hold a ‘simple contest’ as he puts it, to decide the fate of the ancients”
“What!? You can possibly expect him to play fair, it is quite obviously a trap my love”
“I know but I must take that risk, this may be our only chance to defeat the scourge. He made a promise to stop his attack on Nodrassil and I intend to make him keep it”
Tyrande stared at Furion in awe. “He really wants to fight Kel’Thuzad even though he could be walking into a trap?” she thought. “Well if my love feels that way then so be it.”
Furion stared into Tyrande’s eyes pleadingly “My love, would you allow me to take part in Kel’Thuzad’s diabolical contest?”
Tyrande sought guidance from Elune for a minute then spoke softly “What would you have me do my love?”
A feeling of relief swept over Furion “Gather for me our greatest heroes, for it is time to show Kel’Thuzad that we will not fall to the scourge that easily.”
“As you wish Shando”

“Hmmm yes, how predictable…Furion hasn’t changed since the last time we met in battle, still aiming for the same old tactics I see… Pity he has not yet realised his every move is being watched.” Said the cold soulless voice as its owner peered into the vision.
“Indeed master. My watchers prove too elusive to detect even for one such as Furion.” Answered a nerubian voice.
“The heroes you have chosen are indeed powerful Furion however you will need more than a pitiful bunch of rebellious forest creatures and mages in training to defeat my superior heroes.” The icy voice said to the vision.
“But master, the great and mighty Zeus is among them.”
“Yes. He will be a problem but no matter, I have the solution.”
The Nerubian paused for a moment then replied”Who among us has the power to defeat a fallen god? Surely you would not tempt fate by fighting him yourself…”
“Of course not... I would rather not test my powers against those of a once superior being…No we will as they say ‘fight fire with fire’. We shall call forth lightning incarnate to deal with him and see what happens when lightning itself disobeys his command. We shall let Razor the Lightning revenant deal with him”
The nerubian let a smirk cross his normally emotionless face, “Razor… now why didn’t I think of that?” he thought.
“Who else would you have me gather for you, master?”
An evil smirk would have formed over the Frozen Lord’s face if it wasn’t frozen forever in the form a skull. “Summon to me Strygwyr, Abbadon, Razor, The Night Stalker, Mortred, Pudge, Terrorblade, Mogul Kahn, The Bane Elemental and the Necrolyte, Rotund’Jere. They shall be sufficient enough to defeat all of his pathetic…heroes”
“What of the last 2 heroes?”
“Why of course yourself and Lucifer shall fill in those positions, Anub’Seran”
“Of course master Kel’Thuzad, as you wish”

Furion and Tyrande stood on the shores of Ashenvale for one last farewell as he and his chosen twelve were about to set sail for Lordaeron.
“Farewell my love, may Elune guide you and your faithful heroes on your way to victory”
“Farewell Tyrande, I leave you in charge in my absence. Send you watchers to survey the scourge. Make sure they don’t make any moves for Nodrassil while I’m gone.”
The two lovers shared one last embrace as Furion prepared to board the magnificently crafted ship which was to take him and his “chosen ones” as he called them, to Kel’Thuzad and his awaiting heroes.
“Shando! We must make hast. We do not want to keep The Frozen Lord waiting now do we?” shouted an ancient crackled and hoarse voice from somewhere inside the ship.
“Rooftrellen old friend, I will be ready to board in just a moment!” Furion shouted back.
He turned back to Tyrande. “I am afraid I must leave now my love. Farewell. Always know that I love you”
“Farewell Shando my love, Elune be with you”
The two kissed passionately one last time and Furion hastily boarded the ship glancing back to the love that he may never see again. The ropes were quickly undone and they were suddenly on their way.

Furion walked down the starboard side of the ship to the foredeck, where he entered it through an elaborately carved wooden door. He descended down the stairs and made his way to the “meeting room”. Entering the meeting room, he saw his twelve ‘chosen’ heroes arranged around a large rectangular wooden table. One of the heroes looked up as Furion entered the room. “Ah Shando Stormrage” the orc said bowing his head in respect. ”I have heard many great things about you and I feel honoured to have finally met one of your great wisdom”
“An orc studying in the ways of Hextar, I have yet to meet such a devotee Chen”
“The ways of the traditional orc shaman were too brutal for me, so I made the choice to take a more…holy path…the path to peace”
“As did all of us who stand together in this room, and all those who fight with the sentinel, we all strive for harmony and balance to return to the world.”
He took a look around at the many heroes gathered around the table and stopped at a solitary being, standing by itself in the dark corner.
“Come now Darchrow, there is no need to be shy, why don’t you liven up like the rest of us?”
“You know what I am Shando. I am a being of darkness, I exist in this world for a purpose and that is the only reason I have decided to join with you. I wish to find this purpose. Your people have knowledge of the powers that created me; I am only here to find out more… I am not here to make nice with the world…”Came the cold soulless reply. Since Darchrow could only communicate through telepathic means, only Furion and a possible other select few could hear his message.
“As you wish Darchrow. But I warn you, sharing your inner self with others is the only way you will ever find your true purpose, hiding yourself from the world will do you no good…”
Furion continued his examination of the occupants of the room. “Ulfsaar, Morphling, Yurnero, Shendelzare, Sven, Mirana, Young Purist Thunderwrath, Magina, my old friend Rooftrellen. I hope you are all ready for the battles which lie ahead. I hope that you will all realise the true potential of your powers. And to all of you, good luck, I fear you may all need it” he thought to himself.
Away from all of the conversations he said silently “Zeus if all else fails, you will be our last hope. I pray to Elune that your powers will be enough to slay whomever or whatever Kel’Thuzad makes you fight.” He took a deep breath and began the meeting to decide the strategy they would use in Kel’Thuzad’s contest. “Know that I pray for you all and that you need only look to your faith to lead you to victory…”
