How to Play Alongside Beginners
Posted: Mon Aug 13, 2007 4:43 pmHello everyone,
First post here. Anyways, I began playing DotA about 2-3 months ago, so I'm not an advanced player myself. However I've learned a ton and do decently well on pubs and lans. Recently I had some friends come to town who began playing with me, and they're complete beginners; i.e., the suck ^^. Of course I'm never mean to them nor do I tell them that they suck, I teach them alot.
My question is, how do you win a game when your team has 2-3 complete beginners? What do you tell them to do? When I say beginner I mean they die to creeps
with no enemy hero in their lane. One time I saw one of them doing crystal maidens ulti on 2 creeps x_x. lol. So what do you usually tell them to do? I tried setting up ganks with them and stuff but it was hopeless, so I just tell them to push a lane and leave it whenever they see an enemy hero o_O. But I'm afraid this way they'll never learn how to play, I remember when I first started I sucked just as much.
So my question in short, is, "How do you prevent or minimize the dire consequences to your team when more than half of them are noobs?"
Thanks.

Well, if they are in such a desperate "n00biness" level, they just need to practice....(A LOT from what you're saying XD)
However, if you tell them EXACTLY what to do and when to do it, they work just fine...
I once had to play with a friend of mine and a little kid who didn't know how to play at all, but played WC3....
I told him to get pugna and head to the middle.... Told him what skills to get, and when to use them...
And afterwards, the little kid was holding a lane on his own against two other heroes XD...
So just tell them what to do, when to do it, and how to do it and they'll learn, but you do need a lot of patience....

playing with Losers?
Posted: Mon Aug 13, 2007 10:00 pmwell, i've got a lot of battles before wherein my teammates are so god forsaken players...
1. Never shout or be mean to them, coz that will destroy the core of your team, you'll lose for sure, and they will hate you too..
2. Always plan a strategy.. give them the opportunity to make the kill, instead of you getting the kill, give them the chance to kill, so that it will boost their confidence and they will make it sure that they'll win..
3. Just have fun, don't make it so serious coz noobies have a LOT to learn..
4. Newbies usually either gets killed first or they ran away first.. So make use of that, if they choose to fight and die, then make sure that you can inflict the damage he's taking to your opponents.. means, use him as a decoy to employ your offense...
5. Running away, well, this can't be helped if your teammates are chicken.. Just tell them when you feel suspicious about a gangbang about to happen..
6. Worse about amateurs is that, they don't level up fast, they don't earn much gold, and so they can't face the enemies..
7. The Worst of all are Feeders and Leavers...
I'd say the best solution is to practice and teach them the right way...
Don't always expect to win if you're with newbies.. expect the worst...

No offense to anyone (btw I don't play on GG)
but if I have complete noobs on my team who are useless beyond all reason, even if I tell them what to do and giving them sufficient amount of chances I just leave.
No point playing, no point wasting time, no point suffering over it.
Get banned yeah ok, but I'd rather save myself from a wasted 20~30~60 mins.

Yeh but these are his friends.
What i try to do is teach them normal skills by playing private games with my friends (apem 3v3 or apemom2v2 or apemnt 2v2)
This helps them get practice, its how i learnt, playing with noobs is the best way to learn.

Tell them what they're skills are to be used for i.e. Frost Nova and Chain Lightning can be used to harass or initiate a gank and skills such as Storm Bolt and Frostbite are used to keep a hero from running away. "Noobs" learn more when they're with a good player so tell one of them to stick by you =] Ultimates take a lot of time to learn how to use and when to use so you might need to explain those a little more.

@ noobifier never teach them how to play EM.
play -ap
and to play lan 1v1 or 2v2 is a good idea, thats how i started out.
after they master that ok, go for pubs and teach them how to gank and avoid ganks etc.
but most important, they need practice.

Well...some noobs can ruin a game, if he is not a too big noob ans smart, with your advice he can handle it.
But if he is really a big noob and do not listen to the others, he will just feed them and that will ruin the game, giving money and exp to others and unbalancethe game

noobs are a fact
live with it, with patience and authority

how many times have i (tried) to help a newb play...
Yeah like evryone saod tell them what skills to get, when to run and what items there gonna buy, and if it all fails...just play for them
I had to learn Dota the hard way, playing with 3 or 4 people or were very good. It got so bad one time that i completly quit and it ruined my night (and to them i was acting emo so now im called "Emo")
Practice makes perfect...tell them to go on Bnet and play in as many apem games as they can with easy hero's like tinker or puck or sumthin...show them DS too....This site helps a noob out soo much.
