How to Play Alongside Beginners
DotaStrategy.com Forum Index > Questions and Answers > How to Play Alongside Beginners
To help newbies: give the AI map+ and tell them to play it everyday for 1 or 2 months or so, then start trying with human. Also give them good replays.

LOL
I'm a little worried, if someone who has been playing for only 3 months is teaching noobs, it may be very very difficult for the new players to learn quickly.
If you are a good enough player, your friends will watch you, and learn how to play well. I've been playing with friends who have only been playing around a month, and apart from the fact that they practise a lot, they watch what i do and apply it. For example, they all have decided to start last hitting creeps. They are becoming very good at it even after only a month or so of practise. I would play pudge against them for kicks, and they would jsust stand there lol, but now they have learnt to move around, and dodge hooks.
It's all about having patience, and making sure they watch what you do.

its gonna be downsided but... try to pull their game into your own pace.
become their parent in the game, tell them to go back when enemies are suspiciously gone, dont shout at them, tell them what to do patiently, and try to use those noob-friendly heroes (lina, lion, krobelus etc.) and you try to be disablers to make it easier for them. tell them what to build according to the current situation. have fun

First off, don't expect to win. Instead try to make it as fun for them as possible so that they don't lose heart. Help them with their item builds & when they make a mistake with items or skills then correct them constructively & explain why so that they understand instead of just following instructions blindly.
And last but not least, tell them to sign up here on DS so they can learn from the forums, libraries, strats, & replays.

If you are going to play with them and teach them in many games, have them pick heroes they've been before so they can get familiar with a few heroes. As for me, what helped me the most when I was noob was readying strategy guides and stuff. After a few weeks I got the hang out playing a few heroes, but I was always underlvled because I spent so much time in the base/shops, trying to figure out what items to buy. So make that you also help them out with their item build and not just their skill build. Otherwise like me they will be underleveld and constantly marked for ganks, and that can ruin the experience sometimes.

It's just a game... like [pig]Jenan said...
Quote:
you have nothing to lost men!
you have nothing to lost men!
well... be sports... to the game... They are beginners or "noobs" in short... Play the way you want... If you lost... "you have nothing lost men!"
It's a matter of sportsmanship like the upcoming Olympics... If that is 2pros vs 3noobs... 2 have the advantage... well in number 3noobs have the advantage... As what you look on the scenario of King Frederick the Great of Prussia... It's not the matter of number but the matter of mind and on how you could carry the game...
Mind over matter in short in your situation... Better put mind with the game or better strategies you have in mind and put it upon the matter...

dota is like the most noob-unfriendly game in the world
what i did when i was a noob was that i played ai for some time, until i learned not to run into creeps then get killed with no opposing hero (i used nukers like jakiro)
then my fren helped me learn the importance of 'items' (before, i didn't buy items)
after that, i used dark terror and i pwned, i started actually looking for heros to kill, unlike before where i go to an empty lane and start farming, and i started switching lanes to match needs
what helped me was that ai do not gank so there was less dying and disheartedness
DS also helped me with the strategy
i played em, so it took me a while to adjust to ap, but now i'm adjusting properly (though still sometimes a feeder)online
so my advice is:
-it is impossible to start dota without a friend, so if u have a newbie friend, try and help them
-tell them to look up strategies on DS
-play with them and have fun! i have had games where i lost but we had fun, and it was better than when i won and we were arguing, besides, its easier to win when ur having fun.
-never tell them to do -em mode, it is HARD to adjust

For the whole benefit of the team, do not let any of them solo, and do not risk ur life to save theirs. Request them to give u good farming spots NICELY, because noobs nvr last hit, thus wasting the good oppotunity.
Also, choose a carry hero, some1 like FV who can somtimes handle a few ppl at 1 go.
Tell them to rush cheap and effective items like EUL, which is very good for escaping and helps you too.
