Is FFVII overrated?

With all the RPG lists wandering around the internet, I can say we could see good articles and judgment about ranking the games, and we could see lists WITHOUT FFVII in them, yeah, top RPG's, and FFVII is not there.

This lists often has comments that it suc*s because FFVII is not there. yeah, FFVII really did a good job revolutionizing the RPG's, but comparing it to other RPG's like Phantasy Star, Suikoden etc. (or when you played other RPG's) you could see the huge difference in them. Yes, FFVII is one or most likely the most famous and most loved. Although I (In my opinion) say that it's not the best RPG ever (I played it myself)

so I'm asking this question

Is FFVII really just an overrated game or it's really one of the best game EVA!!??

(this is all based on my opinion, if anyone wants to kill or insult me because I underrated your beloved FFVII, you can say it here )

If you compare it to things nowadays, it's not gonna come out on top... but for it's time, I'd have to say it was top ten, at least. Probably somewhere in 1-5.

FFVII is the most interesting story other than the other FF series.
I watched the movie of it called FFVII: Advent Children. Very popular!!

i gotta say FF XII sucked big time prolly one worst FF games.
FFVII is my absolute fave and i dont think its overated cus people acually like it. dey said dey was gonna remake it fo the ps3 deres a trailer on youtube fo it. FFX and FFVII are best FF games.

I personally thouht FF XII was pretty good lol. Brought something new instead of the old turn-based fighting. Never played FF XI though sinceit's PS2 online lol.

However, I think FF VII was great for its time (nowadays it would obviously be lacking in the graphics department and such). I think FF IX sucked (you're a monkey that looks like he's 4 years old lol) and my personal favorite is FF VIII. Best GF's and Irvine was a pimp lol.

All the Final Fantasy games have a great storyline, even if some of the characters sucked (Zidane the monkey-thing). The red-haired guy was one of the decent ones lol.

The FF games impacted gaming as a whole, and it even impacted DotA!!! Azwraith is Kimahri Ronso lol.

It IS a good game... but, it is indeed overrated... The reason being, that it was the first game to actually get people into RPGs... And you can see why...
While playing it, it felt more like watching a movie, or an anime than straight playing it... Every action you did had an incredible animation in combat, and outside combat, a really good story...
But, we have all that in nearly ALL RPGs now... That's probably why it's not in those lists you mentioned... There are much better RPGs now than FFVII, although, I repeat, it IS a great game...

I love FFVII, every so often I just get an itch to play it again. I go and dust off my old PS classic from the attic and kill a few hours every night until I beat it and all the ultimate weapons again. My girlfriend is even intrigued to play. She says she'll play it after her busy season (auditor) I will definately help her through it, but I think FFVII is simple enough that anyone can play it.

If you like the Fantasy Thing,
Then i think its Great,


Its Not Over rated, FFVII was/is one of the best games in History,
Its definatly made its mark, captivating the entire world.

But sure there maybe better games,
As i said, its what your into.

heres my opinion:

its not overrated unless YOU deems it overrated. if ALOT of ppl say its good, then it good.

the only think overrated is the cloud/sephiroth rivalry and obsession. their character plots arent detailed much, yet they have a big following. im guessing its the hair, sword, and name. based on this, why dont they make a character called cloudiroth who has a 7 foot sword with the width of the buster sword, and goldish-silverish spiked 3 feet hair??? im sure itd be a hit...

but seriously, the GAME isnt overrated, just how ppl have popularized one aspect of the game

murdaman there will be no ffvii remake for the ps3 sadly. that was just the ps3 demo used at E3 to show off the ps3 graphics. they have officially stated they have no such project under production. sorry to burst your bubble but it was announced almost a year ago. and yes ffvii was the best RPG for its time. but still out of every RPG ive played ffvii still has the best villian. although so many fobs and preteens killed the whole sephiroth image.
