Yes, ppl do mix it up. Just as an example... 9times out of 10 when I'm in a cab in NY:

Cab Driver: So where you from?

Cab Driver: Ye, thats what I'm saying.
I roll my eyes...
Cab Driver: You eat lot of swiss chocolate?
