empty bottle are good item for mana and hp recovery (700 gold=3 charges each charge regenerate 200 hp and 75 mana for 3 sec)
we on lan games use hand signals (for ambushing other hero) to communicate so that it won't give our current positions
and my basic item on 5 on 5
bracer/null or
ring of regen

kaizer, its 700 gold = 3 charges of the stuff every time you can go back to the base and refill it!!!! its like spending 7 times the cost of sapphire water for a permanent flask. that you just need to keep refilling.
and also, agreed, flask of sapphire water heals 20 HP/s, while this does 66 HP/s and 25 MP/s! much faster regen.

Eh, I didn't know that, hehe! I'll try an Empty Bottle the next time I play.
Yep, Ring of Regen is almost always an automatic in every game.
How long do Observer Wards last?

I think its 360 secs.. Why do I see most people buy perseverance first, then boots?

Empty bottles are nice.. But then again, I usually buy non-consumable regen items instead of emty bottle.
Why perseverance?
1] It's a great regen item. 4HP/s and 100% mana is always nice.
2] Lots of items use Perseverance or its components (Void Stone, Ring of Health) as an ingredient [Battle Fury, Linken's Sphere, Vanguard, etc.]

regen item is a big MUST!!!
i mean you really need them in the early to mid games
especially perseverance
so you can do cheapshots and regen hp after being cheap shot
it also annoys enemy when they see your life back to full again after a few second
it annoys greedy people hehehe...

Experience is pretty much the way to de-noob yourself. There is little point, going through sites and looking at character strategies if it is the first time you are playing DOTA or are noobish. It helps to know what abilities to learn first etc. But more pratice and experience really helps more, that way you get a keener sense of how the game works.
Also, many guides on how to use particular characters tell you what items to get, but not why, what would be more helpfull is to tell what "type" of items you can use instead. When reading guides, I am often confused on what these items can particulary help you with, and also, where to find them, I often waste my time trying to find this destined items.
So really, noobs just need to pratice with AI, for better understanding of strategies for diffferent characters, and game strategies and just experience online.
I reckon Tiny is one of the best characters, when you use him properly.

welcome to DS Spange and have fun
any way
it's true that experience is needed to be a competitive player (it took me a year of playing in Battle.net and against AI just to reach all my fighting style and tactics)
it is also good to play a match against AI if you're a noob and don't force yourself to fight experienced player or match their skill forcefully by being more aggressive (some tends to become aggressive when they know that they are losing)
and lastly try using item that CAN really HELP you!
this are my observation when i play against some newbies on the block...
and also my mistakes in the past

Hehehe..
I see a lot of noobs getting the recipe scrolls..
But not the required items for it.
They think it works as is.
O_O
It should be a rule of thumb for DotA:
Buy the ingredients of the recipe first.

For those who don't need a perseverance or ring of health but need the regen you could also go 2 ring of regeneration which is only worth 700 in total rather than 875 of ring of health. And 2 to 3 clarities for your mana needs which is way faster in regenerating mana and very important in those critical moments were you wished you regenerated mana faster when thing get messy, to make a quick gank or just wasted an opportunity to make a kill but you discovered too late that by the time you had enough mana to combo the hero already regenerated enough hp to live through it. In some games like pudge I depended on flask for my mana regeneration needs for the whole game^^
To be honest I don't find perseverance early game to be much help early game. Even though it regen hp and sp quite fast it really doesn't increase your life in total which woud be what one needs when being ambushed/rape or just plane fighting over all. Then again this only applies in more organized plays were we decide on a specific target to gank on. We usually go for the low hp yet have a high level threat later on in the game heroes.
I'd use empty bottle but it has been like 2 months and still every mode has np on it. Plus I rarely go back to base since I always have a chicken to deliver the goods. And no giving the chicken the empty bottle to be refilled waste valuable time.
Oh yes I almost forgot one of the most basic yet we forgot to mention item in the game...
1. Buy 1 chicken and share it with the whole team. (To be honest I buy my own personal chicken if I was not the one assigned to buy the team chicken since my team always HOG THE CHICKEN!!!)

I buy my own chicken and tell my mates to buy their own. I hate it when my teammates die and they distract me by controlling my hero..
Sheez.

Geez, your teammates are playing dumb on you, Yukino.
I always make it a point to not buy a chicken as much as possible. The chicken is nice on a 1vs1 or 2vs2 match, but beyond that, it gets much worse. Through experience, I've learned to die a lot less, and so less money is wasted. One use of the chicken is to have it buy your components when you have enough money, so that when you die, you don't lose that much, since you've already spent it on items. But, no matter what you do, there will always be times when you're super low on health that you really need to go back to base.
Recently, I'm only buying a chicken late game when I have little space left for new items and their recipes, e.g. Eye of Skadi. When you're equipped with Boots, you only usually miss out on 2 or 3 creep waves, unless you took a lot of time buying stuff. Which you can easily get the experience when you creep neutrals, or kill a hero. IMO, some people make getting experience overrated, like they need every drop of exp on the map. Yes you do have the advantage on skills, but that doesn't mean that you can own if you're ahead around 2 levels. I can still handle heroes with this level advantage over me just fine.
But of course, when the team decides on it, we get a chicken, whoever has spare cash.

Being a noob, I still havent tried using the chicken, but as may often return to the base for healing, and buy an item. And buying two rings of regeneration, i think is a bad choice depending on who you are playing, my last game as Tiny, once I had my two hyperstones, i was already out the space. So really, strategy is the main key. If you are intending on farming most of the game, buying two rings isnt a bad idea, until you need those lengendary items, yet there isnt a large difference in price.
