There hasn't been a thread like this here. To discuss the item Sange and Yasha. Post your comments, tips, and any other info that you like to put here.

First of all, we know a few basics about when not to use S&Y: (as pointed out by Yukino in another thread)
1) If you're Luna Moonfang, as the Maim orb effect messes up her glaives.
2) If you're an INT hero, as you have no use for it at all.
3) If your hero has orb-effect skills, e.g. Impetus, Arcane Orb.

But there are some cases wherein S&Y works great on one hero, but it's just bad on another. Discuss which heroes you think benefit from S&Y and those who don't.

Recently, I haven't been using S&Y on any STR type hero. Simply because of the very small benefit from the Yasha part. I could be wrong though, but +16 to Agility, 10% increase in MS and AS, seems pretty small for 3050 gold.

So I feel that it's usually AGI heroes that need S&Y, because they can get the boost in HP. But of course, not all AGI heroes.

And what exactly does the Blazing Fast aura do?

One of the most overrated items, yet it's also very useful.

Some STR heroes benefit from S&Y (Barathrum, Balanar, etc.) since they have skills that go well with the bonuses of S&Y.
The 1000 gold you pay isn't just for the +5% on the aspd and ms bonuses. You also have to consider the fact thet it reduces the item slot needed to 1.

But really, when is Sange and Yasha Worth it?
1] For STR/AGI Heroes with almost the same STR and AGI gain per level.
2] For heroes with high attackspeed but no chase skill.
3] Heroes with low attackspeed but have skills that can boost it (Lucifer - Scortched Earth, etc.)
4] Heroes with skills that benefit or synergize with S&Y (Barathrum, etc.)

When is Sange and Yasha not worth it?
1] For the heroes who fall into the three reasons posted earlier.
2] For AGI heroes with very high attackspeed and very low STR.
3] Heroes having chase skills already.
4] Heroes with low attackspeed.

Blazing Fast (Yasha):
Gives you +5% bonus on movespeed and attackspeed.

Blazing Fast (Sange and Yasha):
Gives you +10% bonus on movespeed and attackspeed.

Hmmm, the 10% bonus is already "Blazing Fast"? What about Hyperstone?

And why is it not worth it on heroes with low attack speed? Wouldn't they benefit from the increase in AS in S&Y? Also, if you know you have low attack speed, wouldn't you go for Power Treads? (Unless you're a spellcaster, don't get Treads.) To further add to your AS.

S&Y is probably one of the most controversial items out there. Unlike damage items like MKB and Buriza, S&Y is never an "automatic" to get. But, since it has cheap components, S&Y benefits those "on a budget", or those on a hurry to get early damage items.

Well.. It's the only item that adds bonus movespeed percentage..

Would you go for something worth 5100 just to increase your attackspeed by 26% or an item worth 2450 that increases it by 55%

Sange and Yasha...
it's actually one of my main item...

i usually get sange and yasha just for the movement speed especially if i'm using hero who has not have good " panghabol " abilities and it is the only item you can stack with BoS, Bot and treads(these three don't stack)

Of course not. I look at the overall effects of S&Y, but you do have a point. That's also why recently I've been trying using other methods to boost AS other than S&Y.

So we can say that S&Y is really situational, but not to the likes of Gem of True Sight of course. Rather, it's okay for the quick boost in damage, but not really so much game-altering Radiance.

I think S&Y should be given a boost, just like Power Treads. +20 STR & AGI maybe? I think it would be better that way.

And does anyone know the Maim duration when it triggers?

i got SnY for sandking.....for attack speed and movement speed...

huh! SK with S&Y?

i don't think it's a good idea...
i'd rather use damage boosting items for him...
preferred
bashers or MKB/Radiance
but not S&Y...
anyway it all depend on how you play the game...

I used to play Sand King with S&Y as well, but I realized that Sand King kills things using Burrowstrike, Caustic Finale, and Epicenter. So I use Eul's. And MKB. I don't think bashers are good since he doesn't have that high an AS.

I use S&Y for Rexxar. The increase in AS is great, and combined with Beast Rage can realy hurt enemies. But the damage is low, so you still need additional damage items. Then I've recently tried going for MKB early rather than S&Y. I've noticed that Rexxar doesn't move that fast, but the damage is high. I don't know, I guess the small difference won't matter as much as how you actually play the hero.

Then again it could also depend on the hero, because some heroes need great items to be more effective (like Magina), while others can simply rely on skills (like N'aix).

i use S&Y on Barathrum... yasha's movement speed increase adds damage with the skill empowering haste...
sange's added str gives another damage increase... i don't really rely on maim except when using abaddon...

yup it's true that some hero needs highly damaging item to become effective like magina and anub'seran

I played in a 5on5 game yesterday, and found out that S&Y was the way to go for the simple fact that its components are cheaper and easier to save for, compared to other high-damage items. So there's another advantage.

And of course, having a quick moving/attacking hero is all good.

And I just noticed, even if you form S&Y late, the Blazing Fast aura always appears at the leftmost part of the status line. Wierd. I guess there's a predetermined order of the status icons.

Sange and Yasha is great becaus ethe components are easy to farm for. Hmmm..
There's a disadvantage though. The bonuses are a bit low..

I guess you can't get economy and quality at the same time.

Actualy most items that give bonuses to more than 1 attribute are expensive, like Linken's Sphere and Eye of Skadi.
