Kurenai has no loyalty whatsoever, she was not even a participant of the war, but because of the death of her comrades in the battle of the Frozen Throne, she has suffered so much, and so she vowed to get stronger to take revenge on those who caused so much bloodshed, but then her wish to get better lured her into the realms of darkness, wherein lies great power, of all the training she endured, the anger and vengeance she felt swallowed her life and defeated the goodness in her.. Now all that’s left of her is the rage and anger, and the fierce killing intentions along with her fatal skills acquired in her dark training. The Scourge yet adds another monster to their ranks.

Kusanagi: (G) Passive
The legendary blade has no match, power or speed. However the darkness also causes pain to the weilder of the sword.
Level 1: Increases attack speed by 7%, Damage by 15, takes 2 damage per sec to self
Level 2: Increases attack speed by 14%, Damage by 30, takes 4 damage per sec to self
Level 3: Increases attack speed by 21%, Damage by 45, takes 6 damage per sec to self
Level 4: Increases attack speed by 28%, Damage by 60, takes 8 damage per sec to self
Framework: When the skill is not yet learned, Kurenai only uses its long black sheath, but when Kusanagi is learned, she now removes the sheath covering the sword, revealing the dark legendary blade. She then now attacks using her sword, as the Kusanagi levels up, the blade becomes more and more red, as if its dipped in blood.
Notes: This sword/skill is very powerful, but only with equipped regeneration items will this skill be worth learning. Plus this bonus is permanent but so is the life degen.
Kusanagi’s damage to self, will make potions a waste, so tangoes or regen items will be better.

Seppuku: (S)
The art of self-killing or suicide, by sacrificing one’s own life, using his sword and taking his life. Can only be used once Kusanagi is learned
Level 1: Cooldown is reduced by 15%
Level 2: Cooldown is reduced by 20%
Level 3: Cooldown is reduced by 25%
Level 4: Cooldown is reduced by 30%, No gold is lost when Seppuku is used
Mana Costs: 100
Cooldown: 110 secs
Framework: Kurenai holds her Kusanagi against her and stabs herself in the gut, blood squirts out then she falls down.
Notes: This can be used when your hero has no chance of escape and is sure to be killed by the enemy, only use this as a last resort.

Absolution: (A)
Restoration at its greatest, regenerates huge amounts of HP for a certain amount of time, while in this state of regeneration, the hero can’t attack or cast spells but it can move. This skill can only be used once Kusanagi is learned
Level 1: Heals for 30% of max life in 8 secs
Level 2: Heals for 35% of max life in 9 secs
Level 3: Heals for 40% of max life in 10 secs
Level 4: Heals for 45% of max life in 11 secs
Mana Costs: 170/180/190/200
Cooldown: 60
Framework: Kusanagi turns black then disperses into the air like black leaves, floating and surrounding Kurenai. After the duration, the leaves then form again into the bloody Kusanagi.
Notes: While regenerating, Kurenai can only move and once she gets attacked, the spell is dispelled. While absolution is working, the damage and speed bonus of Kusanagi is not in effect so is the damage per second.
This skill is only good to use when there are no enemies in sight or if you have already outran your enemy.

Condemned: (C)
Kusanagi takes over the weilder of the sword, unleashing its total killing potential dealing inevasible damage to whoever the user attacks in a certain amount of time. Also increases movement speed in that duration. In this state the hero receives 15% more damage. This skill like the other skills can only be used once Kusanagi is learned.
Level 1: Deals inevasible damage, increases movement speed by 10%, lasts for 15 secs
Chance to maim target by 15%, slowing by 20%
Level 2: Deals inevasible damage, increases movement speed by 15%, lasts for 20 secs
Chance to maim target by 30%, slowing by 30%
Level 3: Deals inevasible damage, increases movement speed by 20%, lasts for 25 secs
Chance to maim target by 50%, slowing by 40%
Mana Costs: 140/165/190
Cooldown: 90/80/70
Framework: The sword glows and transmits the darkness into the weilder making the hero much darker
Notes: While the hero is condemned, his attacks can’t miss even if the target hero has evasion or dodge, items or skills with evasive abilities therefore do not work when condemned is activated.

Skill Discussion:

Kusanagi: This is the essence of your skills, so you have to first learn this in order for the other skills to be usable. However, learning this at early levels is not advisable. Go for stats first. Or if you have regen items then you can learn Kusanagi early.

Seppuku: This skill is a form of suicide but then by using this, you deny your opponent the experience and the gold plus it also reduces your cooldown time when you die. At level 4, no gold is lost when you commit suicide.

Absolution: This skill will be your edge against other heroes, since your hero won’t be returning to the fountain as much as other heroes would. Also a percentage heal is better than other skills that deal fixed amounts of healing. Eg. Brain Sap or Purification.

Condemned: This skill turns Kurenai into a killing machine, her speed and her rage causes her attacks to hit with perfect accuracy. Go for items that deal pure damage to make the best of this skill, lifesteal or a high armor is a plus since Kurenai will also receive bonus damage when attacked during the duration of the skill.

Skill Synergies:
Kurenai has no combos. Her skills work differently from one another but Kusanagi has to be learned first. But having Kusanagi at level 4 will deal a 60 bonus damage, and when Condemned is activated, that 60 bonus damage will hit at 100% accuracy.
Seppuku is an option when your hero has been ganked or has no chance of escape or winning in a battle

1. Stats – Learn stats first to boost up your hp and regen before learning Kusanagi
2. Kusanagi – Learn this skill once earlyto boost up damage for last hitting and denying creeps but get a RoR or RoH
3. Absolution – This skill will heal you from the damage you take from Kusanagi
4. Seppuku – Learn this only once since when you die early you respawn quickly

Item Discussion:

Power Treads: Kurenai is a pure dps hero, this item will make wonders with her, speed and a bit of damage.

Vanguard: This item will give regen and block unwanted damage. Also increases survivability early.

Satanic: If you hate building Vanguard, then go straight to Helm of Dominator, plus the lifesteal will counter the bonus damage received when Condemned is in use.

Vladimir’s Offering: If you don’t want to waste the orb effect stat of Satanic then go for this item.

Cranium Basher: Kurenai is an agility DPS hero that relies on physical damage, she has no disables, so this item is good for her, plus Kusanagi increases her attack speed.

Butterfly: This item is your main killing item, since it boost your attack speed immensely and the bonus damage is quite nice.

BKB: Also a great item since Kurenai is a dps hero, she might want to build this to take out any chance the enemy has of escaping or matching her blow by blow.

Boots of Travel: For late game use.

Optional Items:
Mask Of Madness: This item also is a great item if used together with Condemned, then it gives you attack speed and movement speed bonus plus the inevasible damage and movespeed bonus of condemned.
Buriza Do Kyanon: When you get this, your opponents will be for mercy since your critical hits while Condemned is activated will cause a world of hurt.
Dagger of Escape: is also a good item when chasing heroes
Battlefury: Also a great item for Kurenai, since her main items are for speed, life and damage, but the regen and cleave is a luxury to have.
Linken Sphere: If you don’t want to use BKB, this is also a good item to give regen and stat bonus while a spell is blocked once every several seconds.
Lothar’s Edge: Since Kurenai has no disables or stuns, she has no way of getting near heroes, this stealth will get her close enough to maim a target with her condemned activated, but if you can increase Kurenai’s movespeed fast enough, Lothar’s edge is unnecessary.
Desolator: when you have vlads, this item is good to deal huge amounts of damage.

Early items: Boots, Bracers, RoR, Mask Of Death or Helm of Iron Will or Perseverance

Bard Man

This hero has a similar problem to Meepo the Geomancer. She'd be pretty hard to use effectively. Bard Man says this because your first skill has a pretty rapid health drain. But at the same time, she has the potential to be a nightmare to any hero who would dare face her thanks to her high damage.

Bard Man kinda likes how you cut out the middle man and gave her a flat out suicide skill. Yes, there are skills that you can use to kill yourself, but none are quite as direct as Seppuku. Yes, Bard Man is aware of the Techies, but they make big boom. Seppuku is a pure suicide skill.

Absolution is very nice, and it is nessisary due to that killer first skill. Seems like it would be hard to use if the enemy team had a stealth hero like Gondar or Rikimaru, but hey, that's why you have Seppuku.

Condemned is pretty odd. You basicly get SnY with a beefed up maim for a little while and take 15% more damage, and you cannot miss. This seems like a bit much... Condemned, when active, does override other orb effects, right? If it does then Bard Man will give you a passing msrk for it. Otherwise, change it.


Might wanna add a few things to the discussion area. First off, add HoT. It gives you alot more HP and enough regen to completely over ride your first skill's health drain and give you an extra 3 HP regen.

Next, add Tanks. The tank you really need to add the most? Pudge. Rot is basicly a perfect counter spell against this psycho, sword wielding, *****.

Overall this is one of the better heroes Bard Man has seen in a while. Keep up the good work.

i guess overriding the present orb effects of items is fair enough.. yeah i guess that's what i'll do..

i know HoT is a great item, but then i don't see using it with agility heroes but since Kusanagi drains HP, HoT might be of good use..

Just go to the My Strategies page. Near the top, there should be a button that says 'Build New Hero Idea'. This lets you make a new hero with Icons and everything.
