STAY ACTIVE spamming
Posted: Thu Jan 03, 2008 4:47 pmI've noticed a lot of admins writing STAY ACTIVE to virtually every post made by a new member.
How much time do you guys have on ur hands? Or do you have some sort of auto-reply thing going on?
Notable offender: yukino_silvermaine
Mods spamming their own forums?! tsk tsk!!
I guess i should be expecting someone to ironically reply to this post with "welcome and STAY ACTIVE"
But that would just be unoriginal and immature.
On a totally unrelated note, I am exceptionally good at feeding on DoTA. So anyone out there who wants to give some free lessons to a chump, (or just pick on a n00b) my username is "lemo" on boredaussies.

note: DS also have a spam zone
anyway being active is different form being a spammer, you can contribute even though you're not that good and that is being active but posting senseless thing is being a spammer. Gets?
how much time do active people got? depends on the schedule really
oh and i won't deny that that person is a spammer...
oh BTW welcome have fun and stay active XD

Y HALO THAR = Why Hello There
Also..
I researched some stuff about Forum Spam, and all hail Wiki. I found some stuff.
I quote:
Wikipedia wrote:

Well let's see.. What I post isn't an advertisement [well technically, I'm advertising to new members the existence of rules in this forum so..], my message is not necessarily needed but it is a welcome message [still on topic], and it certainly is not abusive.
And no, if it's not obvious enough, I'm not a spambot. Or even a bot at that. ~_~

Types of spam
Most spambot forum spam consists of links, with the dual goals of increasing search engine visibility in highly competitive areas such as weight loss, pharmaceuticals, gambling, pornography, real estate or loans, and generating more traffic for these commercial websites. Some of these links contain code to track the spambot's identity if a sale goes through, when the spammer behind the spambot works on commission.
Spam posts may contain anything from a single link, to dozens of links. Text content is minimal, usually innocuous and unrelated to the forum's topic. Full banner advertisements have also been reported.
Alternately, the spam links are posted in the user's signature, in which case the spambot will never post. The link sits quietly in the signature field, where it is most likely to be harvested by search engine spiders than discovered by forum administrators and moderators.
Recently, a very destructive and malicious forum spam attacks are propagated by inserting into comments redirect domains with an automated posting script like Xrumer, these domains redirect a user to pornographic Websites, which display adult images. If a user click on the image or attempts to close the Website an ActiveX codec will be downloaded as a Zlob Trojan[1].
Spam can also be described as posts that have no relevance to the threads topic, or have no purpose in general (e.i, a user typing "CABBAGES!" or other such useless posts in an important news thread).

I don't see anything that above that describes my welcome messages either.
XD
