Yea the increased ms is the main reason to get it, but thats why i just get a Yasha. No orb effect, +ms and agility.
Even Yasha is pretty expensive tho. 2050 gold for a not-very-amazing buff.

true, I always go for just the yasha, it's awesome for some heroes early game if your able to farm fast enough.

sny is great for some heroes, but ppl tend to use it for any str/agi hero that they know nothing about...even dough rather than a SnY i go for vanguard + damage item

This is not a noob item. This gives a considerable amount of HP specially if paired up with strenght threads. It's equal to having a reaver. I like this this item to be used on naix specially when open wounds is in cooldown, the additional ms allows you to chase and hit while waiting for OW.

ha ha l love getting BoT, sange and yasha and a yasha for pugna! hes jst so stupidly fast =P , sange and yasha has many uses even for heros that are not recommended to get it! experiment with it!

I find that it can work pretty nicely with heroes who have slowing skills. For example Abbaddon. If you give S&Y to abaddon, he will get just a little bit extra move speed, which is usually all it takes to keep even the quicker players slowed constantly. Once they are frostmourned, they cant run away. (Assuming they do not have a stun).

yes it is a newb item... for me. why waste 5k gold when you conserver it to buy skadi. a more effective slowing mechanism than S&Y.....although S&Y is a newb item.. it is a newb item than benefits heroes like LONE DRUID
