in the past few games against my friend ive been up on him by about 3 kills by the time he gets a butterfly... and as soon as he gets the butterfly theres no way for me to even touch him whereas before, there would be no chance for him in a battle.. and it made me realize that butterfly is too powerful... i am normally a str against him when he is a agi character... he gets the butterfly and i got the mkb... after that theres no chance against me fighting him... i realize wow butterfly costs a whole like ...850 more than mkb.. a quick comparison to these weapons that are not even 1000 gold apart...
(the person getting butterfly is supposedly agi and eprson with mkb is supposedly str)
bfly gives 60 dmg mkb gives 75
bfly gives +30%ias mkb gives 15
bfly will give the armor frm the 30 agility, mkb gives no amor
bfly gives a 30% chance to evade and mkb gives 30% chance to do some extra damge, thats really not even that much...
im just wondering if anyone else sees a huge flaw in the balancing of butterfly because really 30% evade is what really is rediculous to me, i cant even touch him once he gets it, i can see how its not bad against an intel char but if im an agi or str myself and htey get butterfly then i have no chance of touching them, do you guys think the 30% evasion is too much, or butterfly is just too good in general in some aspects

Well butterfly is a great item but 30% evasion aint THAT much. IT owns. But it can be imbal at times.

Its not imba, its all about countering - & its something u'll hav to get used to in dota. If i'm up against a hero who needs to hit to kill me, & i'v got an agility hero then bfly is the way to go. If ur friend is picking agi heroes so he can get bfly then pick a hero who relies on abilities rather than plain hitting to kill since bfly wont evade spells. With those types of heroes u'd also b able to harass & kill early, therefore denying or at least slowing down his bfly development.

Dont b fooled so easily, there are many things in dota which SEEM imba wen u just dont hav the right match-up.

Str heroes kill int and loose from agi.
Agi kill str and loose from int.
Int kill agi and loose from Str.
After some gold , agility heroes cant be stoped by any tank, but if he is range just try some blade mails

But butterfly doesn't give 30% to do 100 bonus damage and 0.01 sec stun.

anyway how does str beat int? ever heard of dps intels or OBSIDIAN?
your general statement disgusts me and is useless. And agi don't beat str, ever heard of sladar? spirit breaker? or whatever else you put but dota is not as imbalanced as that

u noe u can get custom titles too? at the armory?

think about the heros that have natural dodge, like void or motred
void can dodge spells and stuff
isn't that imba?
most items and heros are imba in some way
if you noe how to use them then they pwn
and butterfly takes a pretty long time to farm up so i dont think its that imba

@Topic: I used to think Butterfly was imba because of the evasion too. All you have to do to deal with that issue is stick with your team and pound on him/her together.

Strength heroes, tank ones that is, generally lose out to Agility heroes, with notable exceptions such as Nightstalker and Lycan etc. So it doesn't mean its the items' fault.

additionally

Eaglehorn + Quarterstaff (Pre-butterfly) is pretty weak compared to Reaver + Vitality Booster (Pre-Tarrasque)

Eaglehorn costs 3300 gold for just 25 Agi, not that helpful compared when Butterfly is completed

All you have to do is prevent him from getting butterfly, 3300 is not a joke in Dota, in case he gets an Eaglehorn, stuck him in that state, don't let him farm to butterfly, use wards to prevent him from going neutral, harass alot, kill alot, and Push fast!

anyways agility heroes are suppose to own late game isn't it?
yeah kill him as many times as possible so that you can get items before he does.
