To cancel attack animation, wait till the damage has been done (melee) or wait till the project has been sent (range) then click away or press "s" immediately. Takes some practice and awhile to prefect.
IMO = In My Opinion
There is also the variation, IMHO which means In My Honest Opinion

hmmm
also try to see the Orb Walk guide of fwii~~
animation cancel also applies on spells
see how furion waves his wand after casting a spell? or how rylai's staff glows after casting?
to cancel them, after casting the spell, move quickly or press S
for attacks, twisted already explained it

not just "s"

basically "s" is a waste, just click on other spot on the ground, depending if you want to chase or harass-retreat

CFX is the actual useful way to do an animation cancelling (the way I use it anyway XD)
I tried pressing s when I first started out but found it only good for spell cancelling (fake blink among them)
