If a damage over time spell is casted on them like shadow word doom poison etc.

not sure about alies but some heroes can deny themselves like techies,brad,abbadon,etc

u can deny a hero if he is poisoned, doomed or shoadow worded. you cannot deny if they are battle hungerd though unfortunately
