So, what's the score on this? Is it an essential item? Or just a recipe component?

I'm mostly concerned here when it comes to 1on1 games. You have around 3250 gold at the start, more if you're in Normal Mode. So do you get this as a starting item? +10 to all stats that take up only 1 slot is quite good, especially in the early game. Or do you get 3 Bracres instead?

In 1on1 games, most people make the mistake of grabbing a powerful damage item early, like Dagon or Cranium Basher. It's nice to have these items in perspective. However, they neglect the fact that heroes have an innate 25% spell reduction againt Dagon, and that you can't Bash often since you have slow AS. So getting a stat-boosting item early game is the most efficient. However, you have the option to buy an Ultimate Orb. Do you go for it?

I go for Ultimate Orb, my precious orb.
Then I either turn my orb into a sphere or an eye, if y'all know what I mean.

Too bad for me, I rarely get into 1 on 1 action. So sad for me, ad I know that nobody cares about that, anyways, I only buy 3 items for start in 1 on 1 battles.

I do the same thing as well. But I also buy Flasks/Clarities, since you still need them early game. Sometimes I don't buy a chicken when I expect to get back to base often. I usually go for Linken's first, as it is cheaper than Eye of Skadi, and protects you from early game spells, where it matters.

It really depends on the hero and items I'm planning to buy, I usually get a couple of bracers for most of my heroes, and sometimes nulls. Getting three to four bracers/nulls would give you better stats for your money but they won't be used as an ingredient of a more powerful item.

Some players however get a LOT of bracers/nulls/wraiths 'coz it really helps them early game and even lets them farm faster, selling them one by one if they earn enough gold.

this might seem quite useless, but its quite overpriced for just +10 to everything.
i could buy the same stat gain in the form of ironwood branches for just 570 gold! though that wouldnt fit in my invent....
i dint know that the fact that it comes into only one slot would make the price four times that of other options.....

its just an essential recipe component for skadi or shpere,

the only game mode where i found it to be an actually good item is the "death match (-dm)" where you never know what to make....

I never buy Ultimate Orb as my first item. I could have the almost same effect for just 1455 [3 Wraith Bands] or 1530 [3 Null Talismans or Bracers]. I really don't care about the slots.. It's easy to sell anyway.
And if you compute:
250 - Hero [if you didn't randomize]
1455 - 3 Bands
500 - Boots of Speed
225 - Chicken
375 - Ring of Regeneration

You'll have more or less 700 gold left.
If you go for Nulls/Bracers, you'll have 500 gold.

It all depends on your style.
*shrug*
If you're itching for an early Skadi or Linken, you can buy an Ulti Orb if you're confident of your farming and survival skills.

I've had my share of success on 1-on-1 games and I've started with Ultimate Orb often. It's like you were able to buy an expensive item on the get-go, even before you tried farming for it. My mentality is that this Ultimate Orb that I bought together with Boots of Speed and some Flasks, is just the same as buying a Bracer, Boots and Flask in a 3-on-3 game. I can still farm pretty well by last-hitting, but I still buy other damage items before I go for Linken's, since it's not an offensive item, or Skadi, which is even more expensive to farm for. So I guess I could go the Bracer/Wraith/Null route, then sell them off for damage items, like what you always do on 5-on-5 games.

In my perspective, in a 1v1 game, I never change my Item Build order for Nevermore and Morphling, since Morph needs Ultimate Orb for his Eye of Skadi, same goes for nevermore, or I go linken's for him. Anyways, If I buy a set of bracers & wraiths, I'd just sell them later on, so I'd rather get the ulti-orb for anyone.

In the late game with your items when using any hero:
Eye of Skadi
Linken's Sphere
Aghanim's Scepter/Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse/Heart of Tarrasque/The Butterfly
Power Treads/Boots of Travel
---
---
I place 2 more Ultimate orbs for a reason, stats..

I suggest to buy power threads,ring of regen,ring of basilius,a chicken,two wraith bands if agi and two bracers if strength.then continue farming,don't 4get to push in the bottom part if you're a sentinel and to delay your creeps so that the other creeps will go to the tower andyou'll be more advance in the experience....just continue farming...........

N'aix, just go for Vladimir's and boots (900 + 325 + 175 + 1000 + 500 = 2900) and still have 350 cash. Go buy RoR/Chicken by waiting..
