Which is the better item against spellcasters??

I was wondering....which is the better item against spell casters if u were to choose only one

hood of defiance

blade mail

black king bar

linkins sphere??

I'd pick Hood if there were no stunners, only nukers (e.g. Zeus). Blade Mail sucks against spellcasters compared to the other items, so ignore it. BKB is the best choice if you have channeling spell(s), enemy team has loads of stunners and such. I get LINKEN'S sphere if there is only one exact spell I don't like, saved my ass countless times when the enemies could not stun me while I was running like a chicken.
Anyway, most of the times I get BKB, it's reliable.

Hood of Defiance is good against against spellcasters, more useful because you can upgrade it to a pipe, which helps your teammates

bkb is an option if i have a channeling spell

Situational:

Linken's > BKB against Lucifer
HoD is preferred over BKB for tanks (generally speaking)
BKB > everything for channelers (WD, Crixalis) and DPSers who cannot afford to get disabled and/or their ultimates wasted (Sven, Broodmother, Barathrum)

linken sphere for magic that i wont know when they will appear (potm's arrow)
bkb if i have to channel (rylai,sand king)
blademail..huh..i only get it against dpser..
hood..on any hero that is good of carrying pipe OR if the opps team only comprised of nuke n no stun(rare)

Pein evo, I dont think likens stops elunes arrow, since its a sort of AoE, ofc if he doesnt click on you, well who clicks on target with elunes?

Id say Hood and Pipe, easy to build and teamhelpful.

battleforthesun.. iirc, it wont stop the damage but will stop the stun.. not that sure though


edit.. The stun is blocked by Linken's Sphere but the damage is still dealt.

Got it from dotaportal... so still good

depends a lot on their hero and Ur hero, but BKB works generally although may not be the best in all.

yeah i love turning on blade mail and walking into epicentre. DEAD BUG!!!

but on topic, i think BKB i usually best but for tanks hood/pipe is better.

Hood VS Blademail VS BKB VS Linken's

Hood is a great passive extra magic resistance, something great for tanks. If you BKB a tank, the nukes would be directed on your more fragile teammates, failing your task as a tank.

Blademail is an awesome counter VS int caster nukers. The problem is it has to be activated, and suprise ganks which start with a stun render Blademail useless. How ever if you manage to pull it off, it can be fatal to your attacker. Secondly, when activated, your enemies might be relunctant to attack you, rather to wait for the duration to end. For tanks, this has the same problem as BKB, while in ganks, all Blademail might give you is a few seconds of time before the enemies beat down on you.

BKB gives an awesome FULLmagic immunity, which is pure awesomeness for carries. Avatar > Go in> Whack > Escape. However, the bigginess effect might make enemies focus fire you, something you do not want as a carry. Also, some spells like Doom go through Avatar, rendering it useless sometimes.

Linken's give you spell-block, and is awesome on Tinker as it is rearmable. The problem is certain spells aren't blocked my Linken's, and it only blocks 1 spell, after which it needs time to cooldown.

So IMO, in ganks, Linken's and Hood save your ass pretty well, as the other two need to be activated, unless you can react that fast. For tanks, I'll go with Hood, as you can reduce the damage of spells without endangering your teammate by encouraging the enemy to nuke them instead. Linken's for Tinker, definitely, and also if there is an annoying VS or single target spells on the enemy team. Linken's is also good in case your ganking target fights back with a stun. Blademail is good only if you are sure they will attack you, and IMO its VERY situational.

And IIRC there is nothing on Pipe in the first post -_-

EDIT: BKB is awesome for people who require channeling too.
