you are better off following this guide:
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buyers-guide/2010/03/09/pc-hardware-buyers-guide-march-2010/3
its not an amd processor but it does have an amd graphics card. just check out the entire article, they have suggestions for a < $600, < $900, < $1.2k & < $2.1k build

You're better off building one yourself since most companies charge you ludicrous amounts of money on a sub par system. You could probably build a decent gaming rig for about $500 if you don't need a monitor or any peripherals.
Building your own PC is actually quite easy; if one of your friends has any experience in building one, just ask them for some help. Otherwise look online for a guide if you're clueless.

Very good computer for anything you wanna do. Quad-core is definitely a must these days
Bad part is it doesnt come with a monitor. Most cost around 200-300 anyways_________________

Yea I would suggest you build your own computer too... way cheaper... also if you wait until nvidia releases its new video cards late march, you can expect ATi to lower their prices.. so aim for a ATi 5850 video card

Some tech shops allow you to choose your components and they will build it for you with a small charge of-course.. its certainly cheaper than buying from brands ie dell, asus, etc.. but not as cheap as building yourself..

why amd? intel has the overall better capabilities especially the i5 750. it's the best processor after the i7 920. if you wont be doing OC and stuff, i say go with an i5 750 and a 5850 + 6gb ram build. in MY with 1200 i could build a strong i7 920-5870 rig but pc components in MY are cheaper

im actually too lazy to help you but i will in next hours =)
@daman
HP computers sucks badly ... never EVER buy an already build PC except alienware (wich is not cost efficient at all but cool as hell)

those so called 'company' desktop sucks. with 800 dollars i could already setup a strong overkill machine on a 18.5' monitor.

Hmm... AMD CPUs on budgets of less than $150 here in Australia are definitely more budget sensible due to Intel not having lowered the prices on core i3 yet, but obviously Intel CPUs are more futureproof, unless AMD comes up with yet another chipset with backwards compatibility and ownage performance.
My CPU recommendation no matter what however, is the Intel Core i5 750. 4 cores of awesome overclockable fury, especially with a stock cooler. $200-250 AUD.
My graphics card recommendation would be the ATi Radeon HD 5850. That card is futureproof and is a beast for the price, but I'd wait until nVidia releases its GT 400 series until buying though, ATi would definitely lower its GPU prices at that time and some bargains can definitely be had then. $350-400 AUD. By the time nVidia releases its GT 400 series: likely $275-350 AUD.
At that budget, a motherboard should be bought for no more than $200. Value AM3 and Intel LGA 1156 motherboards can already be bought for less than $150, so there's no point unless needing some SLI/CrossfireX action or insane overclocking, which you can't afford with that budget... for now.
Never buy a PSU for under $100 AUD (600 watt, which is my recommendation). Cheap PSU horror stories are... ick.
At this budget, 4GB of ram is easy to buy (buy 2 2*2gb 1333 kits, not a 1*4gb), costs of $125-150 AUD should be seen.
I don't concern my priorities too much with cases in PC building, you can build a PC without a case even. With the money remaining if you buy it now, a $100 AUD case should suffice, unless you absolutely need the fans/airflow.
I didn't include an LCD monitor in this build, as you wouldn't have enough money AUD, but if its US dollars, the prices should definitely be lower so a good 22in monitor can be bought with the leftover money I guess.
Anyways, happy PC building!
EDIT: Gah, I forgot to include a hard drive! Anyways, because of that I'd recommend this build for someone not living in Australia where everything is expensive, and without a need of a monitor (right now, when the nVidia GT 400 series is out you will be able to afford a monitor). A standard 500GB 7200RPM Serial ATA HDD (get a Seagate of Western Digital branded HDD) should set you back $70.
