DS Dreams Map Suggestion Thread

You want to make it a reality?

For now it will be called DS Dreams Map . It's a map based off DotA's system, but has the heroes and items of DS's Dream Heroes and Dream Items instead.

Now, I'm only an average map-maker, so don't expect the map to have all the functionality of DotA. It's just a map to make your dreams come true. I'm not IceFrog, I'm the Cool Cat. Cool

I will be updating this first post everytime a suggestion is finalized, so that we can all see the progress of the map.

Here are the rules for this thread:
1. My thread, my rules. Deal with it. That includes you mods. Har-har.
2. I will be posting the suggestions that I would like to receive, so don't go posting things that I'm not asking for. We follow the 50-page limit rule, so spamming should always be avoided. To do this, stick to the current suggestion theme.
3. Please do not post offensive and stupid insignificant things. Do not post one-liners. Your post will be ignored, and so will your ass. I would kill you for it, but that's not possible over the internet.
4. Think out of the box. We don't need another DotA clone. Yes, we will be basing off some triggers and concepts from it, but we don't have to follow it.
5. Have fun sharing ideas and communicating. Smile

Now onto the first suggestions:
1. Map Title. We need a better title for it. Think of a cool but unique name.
2. Terrain/Tileset. How would you like the map to look like? Suggest tilesets if you're familiar with the World Editor. If not, then just describe how it should look. Again, unique is very good.

Those are the suggestions that I need for now. I'll be taking suggestions for an indefinite time, and will only stop when I've finally approved it.

(I can make the map on my own, but I need help on the starting point. Shared ideas are better than just my own ideas.)

Why don't you make a base map and we can contribute the heroes and items? Just download our maps with the hero or item placed in it and add it to your map?
BTW: I can't seem to figure out how to increase the maximum level of the hero.

take a look at the approved hero ideas + item ideas.. that would be good..

i'd like the terrain to be, like... wastelands/blight for scourge and still, the same for sentinel..

hey let's name the secret shops the name of the mods!

I prefer a snow map, It puts alto less stress on the eyes. Oh I would also recommend people to stay away from imported models and files.

That would be good, but actually not needed. Of course, if you know a few things about the World Editor, then sure! Wink But of course, I would be entitled to change the hero/item for balancing purposes.

On the Main Window, go to Advanced -> Gameplay Constants -> Hero Maximum Level.

Er, that's the whole point. We'll also be selecting which of the Dream Heroes/Items would be included in the map. But not now, we need a base map first. A working terrain.

i'd like to suggest a building that you can buy upgrades for creeps so the game would end faster! something like upgrade armor/weapon/ms/attack speed/ etc..

i suggest someone to make a topic in the item ideas thread and they'll vote on item ideas that are good enough to make it to a game..

would it be something like dota too? with creeps, towers, frozen throne and world tree? or something near that? or would it be entirely different?

How about if there should be a thing like a chaos well where you could store some water nso your hero can have a temporary chaos attack that lasts a few seconds.

Er, please don't double post. And I'm pretty sure I said that I'm taking terrain suggestions. I didn't say anything about anything else but that.

@ Unholy:

Yes, it's something like DotA. The whole jizzit. But of course we can modify some. Your suggestion has been noted, though we don't need that yet. Terrain please.

@ fwii:

Hehe, no problem. Wink A lot of things that affect the game are medified in different parts of the editor.

2 votes for snow now.

Also, for the bases: where do you want it to be?
- Left and Right
- Top and Bottom
- Top-Left and Bottom-Right (I've made a map like this, see screenshot)
- Bottom-Left and Top-Right (like DotA)

And we need new names for the two sides. Sentinel and Scourge has gotten old. Alliance and Horde is old too.

ok... i think it's really better if the bases are on the top right and lower left like in dota... since we're already used to that.. just a suggestion anyway.

Hmmm, since my World Editor is broken, I'll just post what I've made:

Hmmm, maybe a good terrain would be:

Sentinel Side:

Greens everywhere. Many trees,escape tunnels, backstab hideout, more neutral creeps. And some NPCs are now buildings. And the secret shop terrain would be like dalaran, some tiles and magic symbols or something. Butterflies and birds everywhere. Torches on the road. There should be a blue roshan.

Middle(A.K.A. the river):

There should be fishes and frogs and water lilies on the sentinel side. For the scourge side, some floating dead fishes and flies.

Scourge Side:

Many dead trees, outland terrain or snow, add some plague treants creeps, some green water, skulls and impaled bodies everywhere, and flies and bats flying everywere. Big torches on the roads or obelisk. Secret shop terrain should have lavas and fissures around. Skulls and smog, many impaled bodies. Roshan should be red.

Frozen Throne:

Four obelisk arround and towers should fire skull heads(like necrolyte's death pulse). Must be surrounded by waters. There should be a bridge to get through. Big ice blocks around.

World Tree:

On a middle of a mountain. Creeps should climb first to reach the world tree. Ancient Protectors must fire big yellow birds(like the priest's). Trees surround the world tree, with invulnerable wisps rotating around them. Stags are around.

That's my terrain idea.
