Wards are great Very Happy

Played against a SK, who always casted Sandstorm when being low on hitpoints.
Bought one package of sentry wards and killed him inside the storm. Very Happy

I always buy observer ward if I random Zeus after I got level 6. Plant it within the dragon creeps so I can easily have a kill if they manage to kill all the dragons and I'm sure their HP were already red.. WTF!!

when i play in tournaments (which is not often) my team always gets them...but in pubs not so often.

It's oftenly used to spy enemues going to double team someone or spotting invisible units and like mjs said, it is used to improve Tinker's rockets but you only get low exp when killed...

In LAN games, I have observed that observer wards are rarely being used, perhaps, super rarely being used like 1 out of 50 players seldom used it..

I think it's a must for tournament and "match" games. But not always necessary for regular/LAN/pub games.

By the name of your post i assume you mean placing wards to counter wards already set down???? not so much 'hey guys do you use wards'

Your only options are to buy sentry and place them to destroy your opponents already placed wards or buy a gem, go for a creep and then courier it back to base once you have scouted. thats what i do anyway, any player that allows their enemy to continously use wards without counter is asking to be killed.

i only use wards on invisible heroe's and wind walkers and wards are important on channeling spells like Voljin's Death wards and rhasta need wards too so that he can shackle rikimaru and the snakes can attack the target ^^

Get some wards whenever possible. Knowing your enemies' movement is always a strategic advantage. Sentries are now more valuable than observers. It has unlimited stocks in the Chimaera Roost/Graveyard, and lasts long enough to make a difference. You have to wait 6 minutes (!!!) to get a new set of observers after you exhausted the supplies. That's why the crow was buffed! Let's steal their observer supplies! ^^
