skadi is a lot better, though it costs much more.
skadi gives tons of stats as well as mana and HP. furthermore, frost attacks helps in chasing and escaping at times. helps also against DPS heroes since it will lessen their DPS by somewhere 20-30%

i never used deso much.

Skadi for me.Ranged one is not an orb so it'll stack with some other orbs.Gives you mana and HP boost,damage too.Deso gives +60 damage and -6 armor,no HP or mana.But depends on the hero...

this topic brings to mind a question that i always thought about.. can you use both on a ranged hero and have their effects fully stack? I heard that since both have negative buffing effects, only one of their effects will work on an enemy at a time.. so let's say im shadow fiend and i have both items and i'm attack an enemy, some attacks will randomly frost, others will corrupt, but the two will never simultaneously act on the enemy. is this correct?

anyways to answer topic i usually prefer skadi; desolator if if i feel like hearing that annoying corruption sound ^^

Well depends on which hero you are...
If your hero already has slow or passive slow like.. Drow Ranger then Stygian would be better...
If you have NO slow then.. Skadi is ftw..

skadi is so much better coz it stacks witn other orb effects, just imagine skadi slowing your opponent and then you maim with sny, dats pretty slow ^^

EoS vs Desolator?

Ur asking about a level 4 item against a level 3?

Of course a level 4 item is better than a level 3...

It's Eye of Skadi... hell it surely is a lot better.... Better in Slowing, in adding Stats, in adding life and mana...

Desolator only comes with the hero, not as good as EoS for most heroes....

Skadi has major advantages especially for non-orb ranged heroes:
* - means only ranged hero has these
/\ - does not apply to orb-effect heroes

/\*can be stacked with satanic's orb or maelstrom/mjollnir
/\slowing attack
-gives off additional str/agi/int and hp/mana

while desolator does:

/\diminishes armor by 6 (or is it 5?) for 2 seconds (or 3...)

These 2 items serve completly different purposes, Deso is a damage item while Skadi is a + stats item. As a Damage item Deso is great it's almost as good as MKB or Buriza and not to mention it's alot cheaper but the problem is that it wastes an orb slot. Skadi is a great was to make your hero tougher overall and has a good slow to boot.

That makes sense, because Lanaya has a great slow in her ultimate.

Furion for example is another great deso user - why would you need skadi during a 5 second tree hug?

And why would you get Skadi for Viper? Well, why would you get Deso for Viper?? Same for Drow too.

I'm guessing he's asking because Deso is the only orb you cannot combine with Skadi on ranged heroes.

skadi is expensive but the effect is greater than desolator..
increase all stats, health, and mana, damage, and grant frost attack..
